As the virus was spreading throughout northern New England worries and rumors began, Maine and Vermont got infected in no time. Even with the forest terrain these states can spread an infection easily. Back in Massachusetts, things are starting to get bad by the coast with the ice virus. The western side isn't doing bad, the first case that happened in western MA was in North Hampton.
Schools started announcing early summer break seeing as the virus can cause people to go crazy and attacked each other, but in the small town of Chicopee, MA things were different. They still wanted to keep school in session and even add days so that they could cut it off early next year. No one was happy about this, not even the kids that enjoyed school.
Salem, Førd, and Alex were talking about the additional days.
"This is so stupid! When there's a deadly virus going around too?" Said Førd angrily.
"I'm calling bullshit, actual bullshit!" Said Salem.
"Ugh I know! It's just dumb!" Said Alex.
The three, clearly upset walked home with each other to Alex's house, still talking about the school extension. It was about 7:45PM when Salem was on his phone and noticed that the first case of the Ice virus had been recorded in Chicopee.
"Wait, we have a case here?" Salem said anxiously.
"I'm sure it's nothing." "It's only one case." Alex said.
"Yeah it's not like the world is gonna end."
At 9:00PM Salem and Førd left Alex's house, when they saw a person standing in the middle of the road. They didn't pay any attention and just walked away hoping that they weren't spotted. The two we're walking around the park a little as they were going home. "What would you use if there was a zombie apocalypse?" Asked Salem.
"What do you mean?" Said Førd confused.
"Your weapon? What would it be?"
"Definitely a knife, or a katana if I'm lucky!"
As time passed by Salem was returning home and saw someone in the road again, it was the same person. Salem decided to see if the man was okay, not remembering the virus even though he was the most worried about it.
"Hey, are you okay sir?" Said Salem concerned. All that he got for a reply was a growling sound coming from the man. He quickly walked by him and made no other stops until he got home, hoping that the man wasn't infected.
After he got home he texted his friend Ian about what happened, saying that he was probably just drunk or high on something. Trying to not think about it Salem put on some music "Yer Killin' Me" by Remo Drive started playing, while looking at the moon and stars in the night sky.
Soon the next day came, a bright sunrise with light fluffy pinkish clouds made for a nice warm morning and a perfect day to walk. Salem was woken up to his friend texting him. He's been getting texts since 5AM. "What does he want.." Salem said tiredly. Just barely awake he responded to the texts, they were from Førd.
"Do you see the sky? It's amazing out here! Well besides the 60° weather at 6AM." Read most of the texts.
Førd and Salem take the same bus, Alex drives to school and some other friends of theirs take different busses besides one. Em is one of Salems oldest friends, they've known each other since like second grade. She's more calm then Salem and Førd, Alex is too. As Salem was getting dressed he lost his shirt that he had just put out last night. "Damn it, I really wanted to wear that today." He said sounding annoyed. He settled on a half black and a half checker patterned shirt with black torn up Jean shorts and tights with bright green fishnets on the outside. He wore the worst stuff for the summer.
Førd wore different stuff, he wore a light blue button up with khaki shorts and a beige jacket. Alex wore a purple flannel skirt with a light grey t-shirt with a sweatshirt that said "Trick or Treat!" on it in purple and pink letters.
As the group got to the school someone surprised them with news about the ice virus. This is Arthur, they loved saying blame the British for anything. It's kinda annoying but entertaining at the same time if that makes any sense, which it probably doesn't but you get the point.
Worries and rumors began picking up heavily when someone from the group's school got infected with the virus. They were out of school sick and no one knew why until word got out that the kid attacked and killed his own mother but realized what he did and got shot by his father, no one knows how he realized what was going on. Reports started coming out that the virus was being spread all over America but this was happening when everyone was at work or in school, so no one could notice what was going on.
