Chapter 17:

Deal or No deal

...

Previously. . .

An upcoming footsteps echoed loudly inside the dungeon as a petite figure walked down the steps towards a body lying lifeless on the stone floor. Elena released a huge shaky breath and kneed down onto the ground beside the desiccated suit-wearing vampire.

A moment of hesitation rushed through her head as she held the dagger in her hand. Finding the resolve she needed, she pulled the dagger out of his chest and waited for him to wake up.

...

Plop!

Plop!

Plop!

The sound of water droplets hitting the stony ground echoed hauntingly inside the dark chamber, sending goosebumps all over her light olive skin as she waited patiently for the man to wake up. Elena waited in silence, falling deeply within her thoughts and doubts as her eyes plastered firmly onto Elijah's lifeless body. 'Is this right? Am I doing the right thing?' Elena's conscious murmured as she looked down at the silver dagger in her right hand. She tightened her grip on its hilt and averted her attention briefly at the door behind her, secretly hoping that nobody knew about what she was doing.

Suddenly, the once lifeless body began to wake up. Elijah gasped. His body shot up from the cold stony ground underneath him, gasping desperately for air as he tried to breathe through the massive pressure clutched onto his weakened body. His blurry, tired eyes started to darken, signalling his anger and frustration as he glared at the familiar face hovered above him. "K-Katerina," he stuttered her name as he reached out to snap her pretty little neck.

Seeing the distant look in his eyes, Elena clasped his wrist tightly and pushed it down, preventing him from killing her as she tried to assure the older man repeatedly that she was not Katherine. "E-Elijah! It's me, Elena! It's Elena!" she said as she begged for him to snap out from the flashback that haunts his chaotic mind.

Slowly but surely, the past memories of Katerina started to fade, releasing their grip on his conscious as his eyes began to clear up. Elijah shook his head and looked up with a spark of anger burned inside his gaze as he remembered what happened to him before he was forced to 'sleep.' "You!" he growled as he pushed her away from him and stood shakily on his two feet. He dusted his clothes and scanned the area to find any hint of where he was.
