beep beep beep

I groan at the thought of waking up this early just to go to a place where I learn nothing, do nothing, and just wish I was home the whole time I'm there. At least it's Friday. I slowly roll my way over to the right side of my bed to get my phone off of the charger and turn off my alarm. I had a text from my best friend, Bailey, which just simply said good morning. I replied with the same.

Bailey and I have been best friends since we were in 2nd grade. I honestly don't even remember how we became friends we just all of a sudden were best friends. She's the same height as me, 5'4", has dark brown hair and 2 different colored eyes, green and blue.

We're pretty much opposites. She's loud and speaks her mind (which I love) and I'm quiet and shy most of the time. She's good at having a boyfriend for a long time while I, on the other hand, have never had a relationship last longer than a month because I'm normally a more awkward girlfriend. Most guys don't really like that so we end up breaking up.

I get up quickly and immediately become light headed from standing too fast. My head stops spinning after a couple seconds and I make my way over to my light switch to turn the light on. I look in the mirror at my reflection and internally groan. My makeup is all smudged do to the fact I was too lazy to take it off last night and my hair is all crazy. I'm going to have a lot of work to do this morning to look good enough for school.

I drag myself to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I turn on the shower and get in when the water is warm enough.

I brush out my long, blonde ombré hair and begin to apply my makeup. Once I'm done I make my way to my room and put on my already-planned outfit.

My brother, Jack Gilinsky, opens my door and I turn my head to him quickly.

"Hurry up and come eat breakfast. We have to leave for school in like 10 minutes." He says quickly and leaves.

I hurriedly run down the stairs and into the kitchen to grab a bagel and put it into the toaster. While is cooks I go on Twitter looking through all the dumb things people from my school tweeted. When the bagel is done it take it out and put cream cheese on it.

Since Jack and I are already late, I just bring it into the car with me. I look at Jack, who is driving, and he looks so focused on the road. He is a junior and I am a sophomore.

We arrive at school and I walk slowly to my locker to retrieve my books for 1st period, art. Bailey is waiting for me at my locker by the time I get there. I put the combination into the lock and open it. The only thing I grab out of it is my sketchbook. I quickly close my locker and turn to Bailey.

"Good morning!" She says, she's always so happy.

"Morning." I reply. Wow, I sound so unhappy even though I don't mean to.

"what's wrong"

"Nothing, just tired that's all."

We remain quiet until we reach the art room. Mrs. Thompson, our teacher, greets us with a hello and good morning. We reply with the same. I sit down at my seat near the front and Bailey sits right next to me. One of our friends sits right across from me. He smiles at me and says, "Hey Kaylen."

"Hey J." I reply and give him a sweet smile. His name is Jack Johnson but I just call him J for short. Some people call him JJ, some call him Johnson, and some just call him Jack.

I look over at Bailey and I see that she is smirking. She thinks I have a crush on him but I've told her over and over again that I don't. I could never see myself dating him, we are too good of friends and I don't want to ruin that. Plus, he doesn't see me that way.

I turned away from Bailey and look at J. I roll my eyes and laugh. We have been working on a 2-point perspective drawing so I take that out and start working on it.

The tardy bell rings and my teacher begins talking to the class about what will be on our midterm exams.

(lunch)

"Hey did you guys hear about Ryan's party tonight. We should totally go." J says, and everyone looks at him.

"Yeah maybe Kaylen will actually drink this time." Taylor Caniff says sarcastically.

"Haha how about no." I say. I hate drinking. I don't understand why everyone does it, all it does and make you feel terrible in the morning and forget everything that happened that night. Plus, it tastes and smells awful.

"C'mon Kaylen. Have some fun at a party for once!" Bailey says.

"I do have fun at parties! I just don't drink and I'm not planning on starting tonight." I laugh. I take a bite out of my sandwich and look over at J, only to see him already staring at me. He turns away as soon as I catch him and his cheeks redden. I giggle a little and look over at Bailey, who was also staring at me. She wiggles her eyebrows, obviously seeing that I just saw J staring at me.

"Ooh Johnson I saw you staring at Kaylen. Do ya got a thing for her?" Taylor laughs.

J's cheeks redden even more at the comment. He turns to Taylor and just simply says, "No, I wasn't even staring at her." and laughs.

The bell rings which signals that lunch is over. Everyone in the cafeteria gets up and runs over each other as they try to all fit through the small doors at once. I laugh to myself and walk to 5th period next to Bailey.
