Misura attempted to light a fire in their hut, still waiting until sunset. They were starving.

They had thought about going out themselves to try to find some food, but the idea was quickly thrown in the trash. Who knows that dangers could be outside?

DIIINNG!! DIIIING!! DINNNG!!

The sound of.. bells? Why were there bells? Misu decided to check it out.

Creeeeeaaaakkkkkk..

It looks as if the villagers were gathering.. at the um, they weren't sure if that was the center of the village or not. But they decided to check it out, fump, fump, fump. The sound of misu's footsteps. They paused a few feet away from the crowd, they could make out a small.. table, with a box on it. Wonder what it is for.. they had saw some people putting folded pieces of paper into the box. Is this some kind of voting?

Thuck! Thump!

Misu felt something hit their side, a rock, perhaps? Suddenly, a voice could be heard below them.

"Ahack!— can you please move?!-"

A boys voice could be heard, when Misu looked down she saw a child around the age of 12. Where was this kids mom?!

"Where did you come from? Where's your mom?"

Misu asked, kneeling down and lending a hand to help the boy up.
The boy only slapped their hand away, getting himself off the freezing snow covered ground.

"I don't need your stupid help. And why do you want to know?! Just go away!-"

The boy stomped, He put up quite a attitude. It only made Misu sigh, a bit irritated.

"Yeah yeah okay. Why are you here? And what's this? Is this a voting thing?"
They asked. The boy only huffed. He stayed silent for a few minutes before talking again.

"It's a voting for who's next to do the spell. How do you not know? Are you stupid?! Hmph."
Of course the boy had to add in a insult.

"What?! I'm new you brat!—"
Misu said back, the insult got them really offended.
They sighed, pushing their way towards the box, not wanting to deal with the kid.

When they made it to the box, a middle aged man handed them a paper.
"Write someones name on it." The man said sternly.

Misu only knew one persons name here. So they decided to simply write that.

Yamirusu.

They wrote down. Folding the paper like the others before placing the paper in the box. The man then shoo'd them away.

DINNNNG! DIIING!

The bell rang once again. The middle aged man opened the box, starting to fumble around in it before pulling a piece of paper out.
"..Nina tagimai!" The middle aged man yelled. A shy girl about 5 feet walked towards the man as the crowd started clapping. Misu just watch in confusion.

When the girl made it next to the man, the man seemed to have taken out a sword like weapon, symbols embedded in it. The girl held out her hand, looking away.
The man grabbed her thumb, raising the blade.

SHHHLING!

The girls finger was sliced off as she screamed. The bloody finger dropped into a glass bowl, blood dripped along with it.

Drip.. drip.. drip.

Misu was in shock. What on earth just happened, this was insane, crazy. They definitely have now regretted moving here, she wanted to leave. But she didn't have much of a choice since she signed that contract.

The blood continued dripping, slowly filling the glass bowl. It continued dripping until it did. The man then let the girls hand go and bandaged it up with golden colored bandages. The clapping turned into cheers as the girl bowed, walking back to her hut right after. Soon the crowd also left, only the man and Misu was still there.

"..leave."
The man said, Misu hesitated before turning. Walking back to their cottage.
