Dabi laughed loudly, covering up his smile as the two of you continued to crack jokes and tell each other about embarrassing moments in your life. The table was filled with empty plates and glasses, you and Dabi completely forgetting how long the two of you have been sitting in this small diner.

"It was so humiliating." You whine, a pout on your face as Dabi's laughter slowly faded, along with his smile. He took a deep breath, staring at you as he tapped his fingers on the edge of the wooden table. "I haven't laughed that hard in a while." He sighed, leaning back in his seat. You raised your brows in a teasing manner before slightly leaning across the table, "good."

Dabi smirked at you, noticing how over time you've become more and more comfortable with him. The way your shoulders seemed less tense, the way your hands didn't seem fidgety, and how your voice didn't have that nervous shake to it. He sat there in silence as you reached for your phone, checking the time. He was unaware of how long you two have been here enjoying each other's company. "It's midnight."

Pops quietly walked over to you two with a smile, grabbing your empty glasses and plates. "I see you two enjoyed your time together." He spoke with a chuckle, looking down at both of you. You pursed your lips, glancing over at Dabi before nodding your head. "Food was delicious too. Thank you." You smiled at Pops, earning one back. "I'll bring the bill right over." He walked away with the dirty dishes in hand, entering the kitchen area.

Instinctively, you reached for your wallet, pulling out some cash to help pay for the bill. After all, you are the one that prompted going out with each other first. It only felt right to pay. "The hell are you doing?" Dabi reached over and grabbed your wrist, stopping you from taking out your money. Your eyes widened as you looked at him, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "I'm helping pay." You shrugged.

Dabi shook his head with laughter, reaching into his pocket as he pulled out his own money. Enough money to pay for the whole meal. "I don't know what made you think you were paying, but you're not." He slid the money on the table, ignoring your protests and reasons. You blinked, looking down at your wallet before gently sliding the money back in it. On the outside, you looked completely content with the situation, but on the inside, you were genuinely surprised by Dabi's actions.
