An Eye for An Eye

My blade scrapes across the drywall. The white fabric used to make my wedding dress drags along the ground, well what's left of it. Mud and dried blood covered its surface. Blood from my arm drips on the long rug. The long expensive rug that was bought with my money. I start singing softly hearing my voice echo throughout the house after every note. "The little bird flies close to the edge tumbling over and breaking its neck..." I giggle to myself. "Now come on James let's not keep this going much longer. I'll send you to a better place...hell..." I swing my knife at a picture hanging on his hallway wall. A picture of us... me and James. We were happy then, or what I thought was happiness. I continued singing, "The mother comes home, she finds her baby with its blood splattered all on the tree." I reach the end of the hall. Two doors on opposite sides. Which is he in? Ha what does it matter I've already scared the shit outta him. It's just a bonus if I kill him. I pick the door to my left. I examine the room. Everything is still, silent. "Come on out James. I won't hurt you! I promise to make killing you as painless as possible." My attention focuses on the sudden sound of a breaking vase. "Ahh there you are! Why hide from your bride? Are you scared?" I walk over slowly to him. He starts scooting back, "Now d-dear th-there must've been some kind o-of mi-misunderstanding. I-" I cut him off. "You what? You're sorry? You want to apologize? Sorry but it's a little late for that." I pick up my speed moving closer each step I take. He tries to get up but I pull him right back to the ground. "Where ya going dear!?" He screams trying to reach for something to hold on too. I'm too strong and I pin him to the ground. I cover his mouth with my hand and slowly drag the knife against his forehead making a horizontal cut. Blood trickles down from the cut and he screams more. "Hush now luv you're only making this process worse." He tries pushing me off with his hands but I hold them down with my legs. I make a vertical cut on top of the other cut so that it creates a cross on his forehead. "Ugh stop struggling!" I punch him multiple times and eventually he passes out. I take a deep breath. Man this is hard but then again no said it'd be easy. I grab some ties from his closest and tie him to a chair. I put duct tape over his mouth and started boiling water. After an hour or so James wakes up. I sit in front of him with the boiled water placed on the floor. "Finally you're awake I was getting bored. Say hun? You know that expression, the one that's like 'an eye for an eye'? Well since you took my eye why don't I take yours. That's only fair, don't you agree?" I remove the cover I had on my right eye. I can tell by his expression he's ashamed of what he did. "Remember this? How you sent your little friends out to take my eye then leave me there to die? Well guess you should've thought twice about just letting me live." I dip a metal crest into the steaming water and push it into his skin. He tensed up trying to scream but the duct tape kept him nearly quiet. His eyes started tearing up and I could see the fear in his eyes. Something came over me at that moment. What on Earth am I doing? What have I become? I turn to face a mirror on the wall. When I looked at myself with that metal crest in my hand what I saw was a monster. I then took a closer look. The cuts and bruises all over me from what James friend's did. It reminded me of why I was doing all of this... REVENGE. I looked back at James. Tears still falling from his eyes. Without a word I got up and went to the kitchen. I came back with a large knife in my hand. My hand trembled, This is what needs to happen... As soon as James sees me walk over to him with the knife he starts wiggling and trying to get loose. I stop in front of him staring in his watery eyes. His chestnut eyes sparkled in the light. His blonde brown hair had dried blood on its edges. Even after all he'd done to her she still found him attractive. She smiled before stabbing him in the head. His eyes went wide and finally closed for the final time. I pulled the knife out and continuously stabbed him screaming in pain. "You hurt me so much but I love you too much to let you go." I dug the knife through his flesh and carved out his left eye. I held it in my hand looking at it. "An Eye for An Eye..." She laughed, throwing it up in the air. A sudden silence grew. As she remembered they never got to have their dance. She untied him and held him in her arms. His weight was hard to manage but she didn't care. She danced around the house with her husband. "You may kiss the bride..." she said softly before kissing him on the cheek. She laid his body down in the chair and picked up the phone. She dialed the police and told them everything. Within 15 minutes the cops were breaking down the door. They started yelling at one another telling each other to do different things. I was too focused on the sunrise. Can't say this is how I saw my wedding day going but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I chugged the last of the wine and squeezed James' eye that still sat in my hand. I tilted my head back and let out a sigh. "I will always love you James." I was picked up by police and escorted out of the house. They sat me in the back of the car. The last thing I heard was the sirens of more police showing up. Then everything went cold...

(I don't know I just don't. I was feeling just a bit down and lonely so I wrote this. I promise I'm mentally stable, at least I think so. Yeah know at this point I feel like I'm just talking to myself. If anyone is actually reading these I hope they bring you some type of joy. Cause at the end of the day I just want to make people smile and feel really any emotion when reading my short stories. I might stay up a bit longer to work on other books. Anyway to anyone reading these good night/day.)
