Ambrose first found her unconscious near the borders he patrolled at night, it seemed to him that the young lady was sleeping then, which kept him from questioning her appearance directly. When he found her a moon stone pendant adorned her neck and she wore only a grey t-shirt that barely covered her bare bottom. How this child had arrived here was a mystery, as there were no inhabitants for thousands of miles outside of these mountains. Yet, she lay soundly in the foliage mere inches from the border of his land without explanation.
Did this child not know what dangers existed in the forest where she sought refuge. There were mountain lions and panthers, all sorts of predators prowling about seeking a meal to satisfy their hunger. How could she be so careless to wander out so far from the protection of her people.
Ambrose stooped down in irritation and scooped her delicate body into his muscular arms, as his conscience would not allow him to abandon her in the woods. He wondered who her caretaker was as her necklace reveal her to be part of nobility. He would have a few words with whoever allowed such a young girl to stray so far away from home. The darkness of night covered the embarrassment present on his face, Ambrose was blushing slightly, as he was not used to seeing any woman in such an indecent state of dress. And the shirt she wore was not long enough to keep her bottom for being exposed as he walked with her so he opted for focusing his gaze straight ahead instead. He would provide her the gift of pants when he arrived home.
