Fall Again

Chapter 6

Today's Sunday already, and I'm planning to go to the mall today. Actually, kahapon dapat ako pupunta kaso mas pinili ko na lamang ang matulog since alam ko na sa mga susunod na araw ay hindi na ako makakatulog nang maayos.

Nadatnan ko si Papa na nanonood ng tv sa may living room.

"Good morning, Papa," bati ko.

Tumingin siya sa akin at ngumiti. "Magandang umaga, Claire. Ang aga mo yata magising? Wala ka namang pasok."

"I'm planning to go to the mall po today eh," sagot ko na ikina-tango na lamang niya.

Nagpunta ako sa may kusina para magluto ng breakfast at uminom ng hot choco.

While cooking, I heard someone yawned behind me.

"What are you cooking?" It was Kuya.

"The usual. Scrambled egg and hotdogs," I answered.

When I looked at him, my face immediately turned into a frown.

His hair is really messy and tangled. And his shirt is very crumpled.

"What happened to you, Kuya?" I asked even though it's obvious that he just studied all night long.

Most of the times, I feel bad for my Kuya because my parents have high expectations for him since he's the eldest.

"Studying law is much harder than I thought," he said as he sat down on the chair. "That's why you, don't dream to be a lawyer if you just think that it's a job that would make you look cool. You need to focus your whole time on studying. And you need to have determination and patience. It's really hard."

"Then why did you choose to study law?"

"Because, proving something is my forte. Even if it's not worth to prove, i'm the best in finding ways to defend my case." He took a sip on his coffee.

I smiled.

I'm so proud of my Kuya.

"Okay, okay." Humarap ako sa kaniya dala-dala ang mga niluto ko at saka ito nilagay sa plato. "Kain ka na, Kuya."

Tinawag ko na rin sina Mama at Papa para mag-almusal.

"How's your studies, Claire?" tanong ni Mama sa akin habang kami ay kumakain.

"It's good naman po," sagot ko.

"You told me that Eva is also studying there, right?" tanong ni Papa na naging dahilan upang masamid si Kuya.

Takang inabutan ko siya ng tubig bago ko ibinaling ang aking atensiyon kay Papa. "Opo."

"That's good to know. Atleast may kakilala ka roon." Mama commented.

Hindi lang naman po si Eva ang kakilala ko roon.

Ngumiti na lamang ako kay Mama at sumang-ayon.

After our breakfast, I immediately went to the bathroom to take a bath, and then I just wore some simple clothes. A white t-shirt with a minimalist design, a denim skirt and a pair of sandals.

Kinuha ko ang sling bag ko at nagpaalam sa kanila.

"Ihahatid na kita—"

Agad kong pinutol ang sasabihin ni Kuya. "Hindi na kailangan, Kuya. Magco-commute na lang ako." I want him to take a rest, gano'n din kina Mama at Papa.
