Chapter 23

LIAM'S P.O.V

I woke up really early. I left Elaine still sleeping. I flew to New York to see her parents. "Ms. I need to see Mr. And Mrs. Marley." I said to the secretary. She looked at me and said "I'm sorry sir. If you don't have appointment with them, you can't". "I----it's an emergency! It's about their daughter." I half-shouted. She took a deep breath first. "Uhm...okay sir..this way please." She said leading me to their office.

I opened the door and saw Edward, Elaine's father, busy reading papers, so with Elice, Elaine's mother. They looked at me. I swallowed hard. "So---sorry if I disturbed you ma'am,sir." I muttered. "We didn't expect you here Mr. Liam Payne." Edward muttered who stood up. "Have a seat" HE added. "You are very brave coming here young man." He said looking so serious. "It---it's a---about Elaine sir." I replied back. "What about our daughter?" Elice muttered now sitting next to me. 

I sighed. "You need to see her..She has brain cancer...She's dying." I replied back. "No! That's not true!" Eice muttered now sobbing. Edward came to her and rubbed her back trying to control his tears from flowing. "I also couldn't believe it at first when she told me." I exclaimed. 

"I'm sorry..I'm really sorry!" Edward muttered. "I shouldn't have taken her away from you Liam. We saw how she suffered for the last 2 years without you by her side. I only did that because we thought you were stealing her away from us. When she met you...She was really happy. Much more when you became together. We felt she became more distant to us since you came into her life. Maybe because you gave her the love, the attention, the time that we couldn't give to her. We know it is our fault, we didn't have time for her. We were always not around being busy with business. We didn't notice we were already hurting our daughter. We weren't able to give her and pamper her with love and care that she needed." He added tears flowing. 

"Sorry Liam." He muttered giving a pat on my shoulder. "You are so good Liam...After all what we did you still care for our daughter." Elice muttered. "I love her so much ma'am. I will do anything for her." I replied back. "Will she be able to forgive us?" She exclaimed in tears. "She will ma'am..I'm sure about that. She loves you both." I replied back trying to comfort them. "Thank you son!" Elice muttered giving me a hug.

My phone rang. It was Harry. "Liam!! Where are you!! Come home now! Please! Elaine needs you! COME HOME!" He sounded so hysterical. I heard Elaine shouting in pain over the phone. "A-----I'm so---sorry Harry.." I replied back. "I'm with her parents....I told them everything.. I'm sorry for not being there..Please take good care of her.. I'm coming home now!" I replied back now being so worried. "Faster please!!" He hung up. I quickly put my phone on my pocket. "We need to go now ma'am sir!"
