"Grevil! Grevil de Blois, what on earth do you think you're doing?!" His sister, Victorique, burst into the basement, aka, her brother's secret laboratory-followed closely by her fiancé, Kazuya Kujo. The smell of burnt chemicals lingered in the air, the fumes from the evidently disastrous experiment obscuring the real damage done to the whole place.

"Hey sister," a drawly voice came from someplace deep inside the lab, followed by a couple of coughing fits. "What brings you down here? Oh, it's you, Kujo."

A blond man in his late twenties emerged from the smoky haze, his half-burnt lab coat covered in tatters, grinning like a Cheshire cat. "I've almost made it. I've almost perfected the potent charm for True Love! Can you believe it, Grey Wolf?" His eyes glistened with unmasked elation, almost bordering on madness. Victorique banged her head against Kujo's chest in exasperation, with the latter trying in vain to placate her. "We've been through this again and again, Grevil," her tone condescending. "True love happens naturally, not scientifically. You can't force love! Not even a charm or whatever thingamabob will make such thing to happen. When will you understand that?"

"When I've proven you wrong."

"You and I both know that will never happen, Brother."

"There's always an exception."

"No, there's not!"

"Yes, there is."

"There's not!"

"There is."

"Not."

"Is."

"No!"

"No."

"Yes! Wait, what?!" The mad scientist burst into fits of laughter as his sister came to realize she had been tricked. Her face flushed scarlet, her fists clenched in frustration. She looked like she wanted to wring her hands around his neck. Kujo, noticing the tension between the siblings, came between them and put on an exaggerated overly smiley face, paired with an overly cheerful tone.

"Um, so, what do you guys say to a breakfast treat?"

"You look like a twit. But nonetheless, I'm hungry too, so come on now, idiot." Victorique tugged on her fiancé's ear.

"You can come too, Grevil!" Kujo yelled over his shoulder as he was dragged away.

The scientist simply shook his head, amused. "I've got places to be, boy. Can't be bothered. Sorry."

"It's alright! Maybe next time then!" Grevil chuckled at his soon-to-be brother-in-law. The boy can be a naïve idiot, as his sister pointed out, but he had a kind heart. Maybe's that's the very reason he approved of him in the first place. Anyway, getting back to the task on hand. He got dressed before grabbing his already-packed suitcase, and hastily scratching a note for Victorique and Kujo to see. Surely they would understand his logic. He needed some space, after all. After he finished writing, he placed a piece of rock on the paper as a weight-before hauling himself out of the back door and leaving his only sanctuary for the world he was once a part of. It was time to move forward.
