Hestia Greene, daughter of the wealthiest noble in the kingdom, Count Darius Greene; the one who the king claimed as the Star of Darium due to her immense beauty. The most respected lady in the kingdom despite being the daughter of a mere count.
Yesterday, she received the news of her lover's engagement to a foreign princess. The crown prince, Deon Lionus. He had promised her that he would elevate her status by marrying her. He had spoken sweet words into her ear and she felt like an idiot because she had believed him. She had been the one who garnered him supporters. She had been the one to make sure he would ascend the throne and now that he was crown prince he decided to leave her? She was angry. She wanted revenge. She wanted him to tell her it was all a lie but sadly, this was her reality and all she could do was cry. She locked herself in her room for nearly a week and allowed no one to see her. She missed several events that she'd been invited to claiming that she was under the weather.
Gifts were sent to her as people wished her a speedy recovery but behind her back rumors had spread that she was depressed due to the recent news of Crown prince Deon's engagement to Princess Alise of Lyrande had devastated her. Nearly the whole kingdom was aware of their relationship and people buttered her up and became close to her thinking she would become Queen; those who wore the guise of her "friends" finally showed their true colors and joined in on the rumors, however, Hestia couldn't be bothered. She just laid in her room, ate, slept, repeat. On the sixth day, two days before Deon's engagement, Count Greene forced his daughter to go out for a walk. Begrudgingly she did as she was toldand went into the garden in all white attire. This was the first time anyone had seen her so... miserable. The Star of Darium had bags under her eyes and her olive skin that glowed in the sun lost its lustre just in the span of a few days and her smile that all would admire from a distance was gone, absolutely nowhere to be seen. Her maid held an umbrella over her to shield her from the sun's rays while keeping an appropriate distance.
"I want to rest there." Her sweet, honey-like voice rang out shocking the servant for a second as she pointed to a white bench not too far from where they were. It had been a few days since she had last spoken so although her voice was slightly coarse it was still enchanting nevertheless.
"Yes my lady." The maid replied.
She sat down while the maid continued to stand while holding the umbrella. Hestia looked up at the sky and watched how the clouds moved for a few moments before sighing."What should I do now? I spent so much time on Deon...There is no one as suitable for me as he is. It's a pity...but there's nothing I can do about this. Back then, why did he tell me he loved me? There's no use dwelling on the past. Who could've ever thought I'd be like this?" She thought.
"I would like to retire now." She said as she stood up. Determination shone in her once dull green eyes and her beauty seemed to shine once more as she moved her silver hair from her face with a small smile invading her lips as she looked into the sky once more before finally going back to the mansion.
Hestia made her way through her halls, past the numerous portraits and paintings of nobles who served her father until she reached her room. She didn't want to open the door but found herself walking in without hesitation. She walked across the room to her bed, pulled out a chair and sat.
"Hello beautiful. Happy to see me?" A low voice said breaking the silence. Hestia turned around expecting to see her maid but instead she saw her lover standing in front of her.
"Why did you come?" Hestia asked ignoring the question.
Deon sighed and approached the woman sitting at the edge of the bed.
"I needed to know what my future wife thought about me." He said as he kneeled down in front of her."Then you've surely come to the wrong place I'm not the one marrying you, remember?" She inquired again, still ignoring him.
"I love you, Hestia." He stated simply looking into her eyes. The look on her face softened.
She didn't say anything but gave a curt nod in response before looking away.Deon placed his hand on Hestia's cheek causing her to turn to look at him again.
