Chapter 25: Liam
Heyo guys. Sorry again that this is late (dont lecture me on not saying sorry, I know) I had exams this week and really didn't feel like writing haha.
But it's the weekend now, so I'm all good!!

"Ok, ok, ok, how about this? I spy with my little eye, something….white." I say cheerfully, clambering over a downed tree.
"Reid's hair." Amber says in a bored tone, weaving between a couple trees.
"How'd you know?" I ask.
"Liam, we're in the forest. The only colors here are orange, yellow and brown. Mostly brown. Reid's hair doesn't exactly blend in." Kate says. "Is this seriously a game you played in The Other Side?"
"Ok, well, that really wasn't a good example. But it's a fun game! Only when everyone participates." I mumble the last part but they hear it, Kate shooting me a half-serious dirty look.
"Well what do you guys propose we do?" I say, picking me way through the underbrush.
"Why do we have to do anything?" Reid says in her usual soft voice.
"Because I like talking! And it's not exactly like we have a radio or anything. We gotta have something to do." I offer.
"What's a radio?" Amber asks.
"Beats me." Kate replies.
"I don't wanna just walk in silence." I say with a pout.
"You're such a baby." Kate with an almost undetectable undertone of affection.
"I know right." Reid bumps her, hiding a dumb smile I totally see. They exchange a look that is impossible to read before giggling softly. I frown and turn to Amber, looking for backup.
"Don't look at me, dude. Girls are just as a mystery to me as they are to you."
"But aren't you-" I start.
"I know, I know. But I've dated my fair share of them and they are just as puzzling as they seem." She pauses. "Don't tell my dad I said that."
"Wait, since when have we had other dragons in the kingdom? Don't they usually stay near the islands? The last one I can remember was when you were a young hatchling." I say, confused.
"Who says they were dragons?" She winks at me slyly but doesn't expand further. I try to wrap my head around it, but frankly it hurts my brain so I decide to shake it from my mind.
"Hey guys!" Kate calls. I look over to her and see her pointing forward. I follow her finger and squint through the thick underbrush and trees. Through the small holes in the plants I see an opening. As we struggle through, we break out to find ourselves standing on the beginnings of a beach.
The waves crash against the white grainy sand, making that familiar whoosh sound. The sky is clear and blue, reflecting that of the smooth ocean. The sun sits high in the sky, but the breeze coming from the sea chills me to the bone. Judging by the leaves and the cold, it must almost be winter.
I turn to Kate, making sure she's comfortable in the new shirt we bought her at our last stop. We got both her and Reid thin coats as well, and Amber the largest blanket we could find for when she's not flying. Pretty soon those aren't going to be enough. Hopefully we get this stupid flower, get Willow Isle's support and take back Eladea before that happens. We have to.
All four of us stand in the soft sand, our hair being blown back in the wind.
"Well, Amber, looks like your break is over. Sorry." Kate says with a wince, turning to our friend.
