Meant To Be Alone

The clouds are angry. Gloomy clouds are covering the bright sun. Loud thunders are booming from up above. Strokes of lightning bolts are flashing here and there. The atmosphere felt heavy. Big, heavy drops of water are falling, clashing against the cold ground. Zeus must be on rage.

Alone, here I sit on a swing. Slowly swinging myself back and forth, feeling the gust of the wind as shivers crept into my spine. I shook. There was a little bug crawling on my forearm. I studied it for a while before I flicked it away which landed quickly to the ground. Then I stepped on it, hard, taking its life away.

I'm mad, angry? No, I'm furious. I'm hurt, lonely, depressed - I felt so alone. The cloud's tears kept dropping on my skin, touching my face, masked from intense emotions lurking within.

My phone rung from my purse. It's probably the driver calling. He must have been looking for me for hours now. I paid no heed and decided to sit my ass off for another long hours. No one cares anyway. They would just take me home and that would end it. Nothing happens in between.

The ringing noise went off few minutes after.

Moments later, raindrops stopped falling on my skin but it is clear that it is still raining. I flinched when a voice mumbled behind.

"You can catch a fever, you know."

I raised my head only to see a stranger - tall, skin so pale, and eyes with dark circles under. His appearance resembled that of a vampire's or a skinny panda with a black umbrella grasped in his right hand. Creative thoughts started to bloom but it ended not as soon as it bloomed as I was not in the mood to attend on petty things.

My current mood screams the word "cold-shoulder" in heavy bloody red text on top of my head. Disregarding the lad's thoughtful gesture, I tilted my head putting my eyes away from him.

Curious was I when the guy threw the umbrella. I watched it as it flew on the air being dragged by the wind to who knows where it'll land.

In my peripheral view, I could see him sitting on the swing next to me. Not later after when the rain started pouring on him. Few strands of his hair was covering his face. We were just sitting there, being hugged with the cold.

"If you won't take my umbrella, might as well throw it. And we'll both catch fever."

The edges of his lips curved upward, showing a smile. I frowned looking at him. Why does he care?

"What are you doing here? Why are you here?" I didn't bother answering his questions. I didn't mind him as if he was not there at all.

"Hey are you mute? You must be mute. Are you sad about it?"

But who am I kidding? It's hard not to drew attention on this blabbermouth.

"Can't you hear me? See m-"

"Stop!"

And there was silence after I put him on halt. With creased forehead and furrowed brows, I faced the guy who stole the serenity I had previously.

"You can talk?"

Smiling delightedly, he seemed to be amused.

"If your turtle-paced brain haven't realized it yet. A person quietly sitting alone, needs a personal time away from distractions to clear her mind from craps bugging her."

I emphasized the word distraction as I stabbed him with death glares, telling him he is the distraction I have mentioned.

"I know." He said, running a hand through his hair. "I just want to turn that frown upside down." He was referring to me.
