I feel like I need to get this off my chest

The call ended and you slipped your phone into the pocket of your jeans. Grabbing your skateboard you started jogging throwing the board onto the concrete you jump on.
Sitting on the picnic bench to the side of the skate park your girlfriend watched you concerned.
She watched as you skated around gathering speed until an ill timed jump had you landing hard, your board rolling away. Running to you she knelt by your side.
"Are you hurt?" Alexia asked panicked.
You didn't look at her, you brought your knees up to your chin picking at a lose piece of denim.
"No." You whispered your voice thick with emotion.
Alexia, still kneeling beside you, hugged you.
You sat in comfortable silence, you knew once you said the words it would all become real and you weren't ready. The call you had taken was about your sister, your adored older sister. The girl who taught you to skate, took you to football training and supported you in everyone you did. You had known she had a problem. It was how she coped with your upbringing. Your parents had been addicts and whilst you were adamant not to follow that path y/s/n had not been so lucky.
Alexia had been as supportive as always, despite their vast differences she had got on with your sister, they had one giant thing in common.
Their love for you.
Y/s/n had made Alexia promise to look after you if anything ever happened to her. Your parents were long gone. Passing away from overdoses when you were in your teens.
Now your beloved sister had done the same thing.
Addiction isn't a choice, it doesn't care who you are or where you are from. There is no social divide, the only difference is the richer you are the more you buy.
You knew you wouldn't have your sister for long, the demons had their claws in her, all you could do was try and love the creature she had become. The wiry frame, the constant haunted look on her face, the contorted rage when she needed a fix.
You had mourned for her long before the phone call to tell you her heart had given out.
"She's gone." Was all you managed to get out before Alexia pulled you into her lap, soothing you as the tears finally fell.
