"You're going to leave without saying goodbye?"
The silence on the other end of the line told you all you needed to know.
"What the hell Jenni?" You tightened your grip on the mobile phone in your hand, squeezing your eyes shut as tears threatened to spill.
"You're my mentor Jenni, my friend, at least I thought you were."
"I am y/n I just can't say goodbye to your face, it's too hard." Jenni replied her voice sounding distant due to being on loud speaker as she packed up her apartment in Barcelona.
"And what about Ale?" You asked getting off the bed to pace your hotel room.
"She has you y/n she will be ok." You heard Jenni throwing items into a box.
"Jenni she's just torn her ACL and is back in Spain. I'm in England remember." You we're in the teams hotel preparing for your second match of the Euros 2022.
Jenni sighed.
"I don't mean it like that y/n, I mean she has you in another way."
You frowned sitting on back on the bed.
"What?" You asked scratching your head with your free hand.
"I know you y/n and I know you have a sense of loyalty to me especially when it comes to Alexia. With me gone you two can finally admit what the rest of us have known since you guys first met. You're meant to be together girl."
You were a little stunned. You had never admitted how you really felt about Alexia to anyone, especially not Jenni due to her history with the Barcelona Captain.
"I am going for my career first and foremost y/n, I need this, I need this challenge." She continued talking as she banged around her apartment.
You shook your head knowing she was right. She was aging out major league football and with her experience and ability, going to Mexico to help establish their league was a smart decision.
"I'm going to miss you so much." You whispered as a tear rolled down your cheek.
"And I'm going to miss you El Diabla." Jenni laughed as she replied using your hated nickname. It was given to you by your friend Misa Rodriguez because she hated facing one on ones with you. She said you had fire in your heels and an evil glint in your eye when you would charge at her in goal, hence the nickname.
"What do I do without you Jenni?" You chuckled wiping the tears away.
"You tell Alexia how you feel y/n and then hopefully she gets her head out of her arse and tells you how she feels as well."
Again you were a little stunned.
"How do you know how she feels?"
Jenni laughed and her voice came closer to the speaker.
"Because when it comes to Alexia, it's always been you y/n y/ln.
