Chapter 9: An old friend and a new student

So, standing there, was Kate Estimor. But not the Kate I grew up to know. Now, she was all confident and she wasn't nerdy at all. She wasn't wearing neither her glasses nor her headgear. Her hair, as usual, was curly blonde. She was wearing a v-neck sweater and some skinny jeans with some flats. She wasn't wearing the usual dress she used to wear. She was all beautiful now. See, Kate was half British and half American, and her grandma was Spanish. So, she could maybe considered as..SpaBriMerican?...wait, no..BritishSpanishAmerican would do, even if it takes long to say.

I was snapped out of my train of thought when the principal yelled out loud

"Who started this?!?!?!" He said with an angry expression

Everyone suddenly pointed at me and Winston's face was just so very obviously saying 'May you have peace in your soul'.

"Well, Mr. Max, since you started the whole thing, your punishment shall be to tour Ms. Estimor here all around campus" He said

So, Kate and I chatted as we walked around the corridors of school. We talked about our lives so far. The dance offs. And about my career as MusicMax.

"What are you gonna do about it, Jim?" She said

"Obviously, I cant throw that life away, so I have to deal with it. I'll find a way, somehow" I replied

During gym class, the members of the 'slut' club A.K.A the cheerleading team, were trying to turn Jared on. And, oh....it worked. So thanks to them, I have a higher grade in gym than Jared cause he was too distracted to focus. For once, the cheerleaders actually did something good.

Anyways, what bothered me was that Kate was wearing short shorts. And a LOT of guys were staring at her, which annoyed me to the level of wanting to rip their heads off. Maybe it was just a protective instinct as her best friend. Hopefully, that's just it.

After classes, I came over to Kate and asked her:

"Kate, do you wanna come with Winston, Sarah and I to the ice cream shop?"

"Sure, what time?" She said

"About 5:00 at Cold Stone if that's okay with you" I replied

So, on the way home, since it was only 3:00, I decided to go play basketball. I went into my house and parked my car in the garage. I got out of the car, the went into my house. Why the heck am I doing a stupid play by play?

Anyways, when I was already wearing my shoes, I thought 'Why play alone here, when there are the school basketball tryouts today?'

So I just got my gym bag and put some extra clothes, my casual topsiders, towels, and a bottle of water. Then I got out and got in my Ferrari. Hopefully, no one trashes this one. Cause, Nobody, I mean NOBODY, thrashes a Ferrari.

During the drive to school, I played music from my phone via bluetooth. When I got there, it said tryouts were at 4:00. I still had one hour. And it was only 3:30 right now, so I still had 30 minutes to spare.

I opened my phone. My phone was pretty new, a gift from my dad. The new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. There were a lot of cool features. And I could have my credit card in the phone. So, didn't have to carry a wallet all the time anymore. Anyways, I activated my data plan and I opened up this app called WATTPAD. Then, I checked my library; and there was a book called 'The Journal Of A Child Superhero'. I opened it up and read it until the coach opened the gym doors. By then, there were a lot of kids in the waiting area. So it was kind of a jam to get in.

So, I was third in line. And my turn ended by 4:45. I was gonna be late. So, I went into the lockers and took a quick bath. Then, I changed and ran out quickly. When I got to the parking lot, thankfully, my car wasn't thrashed. But the tires were blown. They were all flat. And I had about 5 minutes to get to Cold Stone.

So, I ran all the way home, which was thankfully near. And I got my dad's Hummer. I drove so fast out that I didn't even notice a girl walking. I almost ran her over. I got out of the car and helped her up.

"I'm kinda dizzy....wait...who are you?" She said

"Look, I'm so sorry, I was in a hurry. Come on, lets get you to a hospital" I said to the girl

Honestly, she was really beautiful. I mean, she had Hazel brown hair, white skin, and she was wearing a camo shirt and a pair of brown short shorts with some flats. She had some freckles, but overall, still beautiful. I helped her into the car.

"Strap on your seatbelt" I said

"Wait..how do I know you're not kidnapping me? Especially since I'm new to this town" She said

Wait, she was new???

"I swear I'm not, names Jimmy Max, by the way" I said

"Catherine Starlet" She said

"Ok, Catherine. I'll bring you to the nearest hospital" I said

When we got to the emergency room, they put her in a room behind curtains, and the doctor finally came. So they were talking but I didn't understand a thing. So, the doctor came out a few minutes later. The curtains were left open and I saw Catherine there. She was sitting on the bed.

"She's gonna be fine. Are you the boyfriend?" She asked

We both blushed hard

"Nooo! I'm just her, uh, friend" I said

"Well..'uh, friend', she can go do her normal routine now" She said

"Thanks doc" I said

We both got into the Hummer and drove away.

"So, I think we got off on the wrong foot" I said

"Yeah, thanks Jim" She replied

"Do you wanna come with me and meet my friends to an ice cream shop?" I said

"Yeah, sure" She replied

I checked the time, and it was already 5:23. Crap! I'm late. So I drove faster and we finally got there. Winston's car was still there. And I looked through the window and saw Sarah's magnificent beauty. She was with Kate and Winston and they were talking. I helped Catherine out of the car and we got into the ice cream shop.

"Hey guys, sorry I'm late" I said and they all looked up.

"Who is SHE?" Sarah said

"My friend Cathy, I literally bumped into her" I said

"He almost ran me over" She said

So we both took a seat after ordering our respective ice creams and took our seats next to each other. Sarah was surprisingly mad about something. I just really dont get it. After a few minutes of laughing and talking like normal teens, a few big men wearing masks and holding big guns came in.

They shot the ceiling and a few people tried to run, but they were shot instantly. But this was so weird. Who would rob an ice cream shop?

Besides, even if my training of self defense was complete, I would probably be killed before I would even be able to reach the men.

They planted a bomb on the wall and it had a five minute timer. They killed the staff and got all the money and put it in a bag. They got out and locked the doors. They got into a pickup truck, pulled out a megaphone, and said:

"Anyone who will try to go out will be sniped. And no one try to go out of the back door, or you will be shot" One of them said

What were we supposed to do if we weren't allowed to go out and we were stuck in here with a bomb??

How were we supposed to escape alive?
