Moving in sync, two coloured lines - one green, one purple - jolted up and down on the vitals monitor at a steady pace, indicative of a shared peaceful rest. A yellow light flashed nearby. "It is time." The crew member whose shift had just ended reached for the control panel, only to be stopped halfway.

"I'm not tired yet. Let them nap some more."

Inside the joint cabin, someone stirred. Rising above the sheets, a cautious hand travelled slowly toward the bare patch of skin that peaked from under the covers, itching to touch it. No matter how often he had explored Taehyung's flawless form, Jungkook still could not get over the smooth epidermis, the soft flesh and unscarred tissues.

The fabric, answering to none but itself, chose this moment to flow off the breathing shoulders, revealing a world made of dunes. Jungkook had been to Arrakis once before and he swore Taehyung's body moved like sand hills under the wind, to say nothing of the warmth it exuded. He sometimes wondered whether the human who had walked the shores of Gaïa had somehow stored all the heat of the dying Sun only for him to bask in its everlasting afterglow. What was even more unsettling was the fact that without having ever breathed Earth's air, the only word Jungkook found fit to describe Taehyung's scent was home.

A muffled moan had Jungkook flinch away from the tempting scenery. "Am I going to have to give you permission again," Taehyung asked with his husky morning voice.

He turned around in their bed only for his eyes to catch sight of the hovering palm, which Jungkook had not dared lower. "How many times do I have to tell you that I am not made of glass," he groaned, grabbing the floating limb and wrapping himself in it.

The purple line of the monitor jerked up as Jungkook failed - once more - to control the beating of his cardiac organ, remembering Zin's diagnostic on the matter: love, the AI had named it. "How would you know anything about love?" he had scoffed.

"With your permission, I can run a physical and identify the symptoms."

And this had only made Jungkook shudder at the idea that an AI would understand better than himself what his heart desired and for whom it was pulsing with such unnecessary haste. "And what symptoms would those be?" he had wondered out loud.

"Increased heart rate. Redness in the face. Oxytocin levels off the charts-"

"Enough!" he had grumbled, flustered.

As Taehyung snuggled further into his arms, Jungkook noticed how his ticker was doing that thing again and swiftly whispered, "Zin, privacy. Now." He knew very well it was an illusion to believe the AI would not still be attentive to any sign, but the setting would prevent Zin from interrupting their alone time with outdated music suggestions in order to so-call 'set the mood'.

When Taehyung sighed in his chest, it sounded content, another riddle Jungkook had yet to solve for he was well aware of the sharp hardness of his prosthetic parts which could not have provided any sort of comfort to his lethargic companion. "You are a miracle." He realized, too late, his thought had been voiced, earning a chuckle from the other.

"If that is what I am, then you are the miracle worker."

Jungkook, with his enhanced cerebrum, had swiftly learned the melodious human tongue over the course of the 578 days' journey they had shared since the rescue mission had turned his ship into an exploring craft. Yet certain nuances still evaded him. He knew by now how much Taehyung loved to tease him which, he guessed, was what the other was presently doing. And so he figured he would tease back. "Then that makes you my miracle, does it not?"

More chuckled filled his heart with glee as his skin prickled under Taehyung playful strokes. "You're quite miraculous yourself," he asserted, eyes roaming all over the artificial frame which provided safety and longevity to humanoids drifting about the infinite cosmos.
