"So I'm going on a date with Zayn Malik, and no one bothered to tell me in advance?" Mia yelled, sorting through her stuff. Niall tossed away the stuff she threw in his direction, and everything was landing on the floor.

"Sorry. Liam and I tjought you two needed to spend some alone time without us tag alongs." Niall tossed her a simple dress. "Here. Wear this." It wasn't that he thought the dress was particularly pretty, but the more he dis to keep Mia a virgin the better. A simple, not particularly stunning dress would hopefully help.

Mia changed into the dress immediately, not even making Niall leave. They were well pasty he stage where she was awkward parking him, and she was still wearing a tank top and leggings anyways. She examined herself in the mirror briefly before turning to Niall.

"Speaking of the tag alongs, what's between you and Liam?" Mia started fixing her jewellery though the question was innocent, which both of them knew it wasn't.

"Yeah right." Niall scoffed. "Seriously though, I told you I'm bi, like yesterday, and you are already trying to set me up on a date."

"It was two days ago!" Mia halfheartedly defended. She finishes up her hair, and just as she was finishing the doorbell rang. Niall ushered her downstairs and pulled open the door. On the other side was Zayn, held in place by Liam. Niall gripped Mia s arm and Liam gripped Zayn s, and between the two of them they managed to get the two into the car. Not that either had really resisted. They had more just allowed the two to do as they wished, looking at each other With amused smiles.

Once they were properly locked UN the car, Zayn started it, driving away and leaving Niall and Liam standing in the driveway. Mia watched him. He was certainly a very handsome boy, and she had gotten to know him better in the last few days than in most of the rest of the time she had known him combined. She certainly didn't mind going on a date with him, but she couldn't help but think about the future, about him dying, and about the grief she would go through if she got too attached.

"Did they tell you where they set up the date?" Mia asked. Zayn nodded silently, so she continued. "Are we going there, or are we gonna ditch their date?"

"I don't see the reason to let a perfectly well planned date go to waste." Zayn pointed out.

Mia shrugged. He was of course right. Often times in books or movies, a couple would ditch the date that had been set up for them, and Mia never quite got that. I mean, if you have friends willing to set up and pay for your date, why bother doing it yourself?

After a few more minutes of driving, we arrive at what appears to be an open field. There is a soft glow a few hundred yards away, and Zayn leads Mia to it, taking her hand in his own. When they arrive, there is a soft blanket spread across the ground. Fake candles are alight, creating the soft glow Mia had noticed earlier. A basket is sitting in the blanket, which Zayn opens to reveal a nice dinner, complete woth a bottle of wine. It was cheap wine, but Liam was an underage foster kid. He could only do so much on the alcohol front.

"This is really fancy." Mia comments as Zayn lays out the various foods. Zayn nods absentmindedly.

"Liam has always had a flare for romance." He commented. Once the food was all set out, they began eating. Finally, Zayn spoke again. "He's gay you know."

"Pardon?" Mia was confused at the random outburst.

"Liam. He's gay. Has a crush on your friend too." Zayn continued eating as if the news meant nothing to him. And Mia relized it probably didn't. Zayn wouldn't live to see Liam s romantic life unfold, he wouldn't be there to watch the romance between Niall and Liam develop if it even did. Zayn only had a little bit of life left to live, and he had made the dedication to focus on the thinhs that would have any sway on his life. Liam s sexuality probably would in no way affect Zayn, especially not within a year.

"Niall is bi. They have a chance." She commented, but it was clear that that would be the end of that topic of conversation. It was a while before Mia spoke again.

"What is Liam gonna do once your gone?" It was a depressing question to ask in a date, but Mia knew Zayn hated pleasantries.

Zayn sighed. "I'm not sure. Probably get on with life. I've always needed him more than he ever needed me."

Mie frowned. "I'm sure that isn't true. Your brothers. You need each other equally."

Zayn shook his head. "We aren't actually brothers." And as they ate, Zayn shared his past with Mia, telling her thinhs he often refused to let himself remember. It was freeing to tell it to her. It seemed like now at least, someone would remember him. Once he was done with his story, They sat in silence, having finished the food a while ago.

"We should probably get going." Mia stated, the regret in her voice heavy. It was obvious she didn't want to leave. "I don't know about yoir brother, but Niall will be waiting in suspense for me to return."

Zayn shook his head. "The date isn't over yet." He left everything where it was on the ground. Liam had promised to come and clean up after them. Despite Mias numerous questions, he refused to tell her where the next part of the date would take place, jist shaking his head slightly. He was in a good, energy filled move, having taken some extra adrenaline today. And he had to admit, the next lart of the date dis cause him a bit of excitement.

"A boat?" Mia asked incredulously when they finally arrived. "I don't even like boats."

Zayn chuckled and led her inside. One of the rooms in the boat was filled with a nice white bed, The sheets covered in rose petals. Mia turned to Zayn and raised an eyebrow.

"That isn't suggestive at all." She stated. Zayn pulled a paper out of his pocket and handed it to Mia. Her eyes teared up as he read.

"Two weeks?" She whispered, a tear spilling over.

Zayn looked her straight in the eye and nodded. "Two weeks. I know I've been stupid, and I've brought this upon myself, and that I should have taken the treatment. But Mia, I know we could have been something great. And yes, The rose petals are slightly suggestive." Zayn gestured towards the bed without breaking his gaze from Mia s eyes. "But I am mot asking to be your first Mia. I am asking you to be my only."

With Zayn s sweet words left hanging in the air, he leaned in and kissed her sweetly. It offered to Mia that this was their first kiss, that she shouldn't be doing this with a boy who hadn't spoken to her until a few days ago. He pulled away, giving her a chamce to refuse him, a chance to say no, to tell him that her virginity was not something she would lose to a boy who wouldn't be there to love her in a month. But all Mia could think about was Zayns words. 'I'm asking you to be my only.' So much had been in Zayn s eyes at that moment, the hope the regret, the lust. But there was one thing that was blatantly obvious in that moment. He had been telling the truth. So Mia allowed Zayn to kiss her. His YouTube slipped inside her mouth with a grace that seemed almost practice, reminding Mia of the alarmingly high number of girls Zayn had kissed. But what Zayn was about to do would be new to him, new to the both of them. And when he lay her down on the bed, her doubts vanished. And in that moment, for that one blissful night, everything was perfect.

Maya, you better be happy.
