The day has come. Competition time.
Melina made us all breakfast and it was so fucking good. No offense to Nat, I love her cooking, but her mom had a real knack for it.
"I'm going to need lots of vodka," Natasha exclaimed. I scoffed at her, "Why because you can't stand us or you know you're gonna lose?"
"Oooh feisty! I like it," Alexi laughed. "You can't talk Y/N. This is your first rodeo. You'll be needing it later too, trust me." Nat replied. "Enough bickering everyone. We haven't even started yet. Yelena why don't you pick the first game," Melina said. Yelena cheered, rushing out the sliding glass doors.
I helped clean dishes again, but this time Melina joined me while Alexi and Nat went to join Yelena outside. "You really don't have to do this Y/N," she sweetly said. "Nonsense! It's the least I could do for you allowing me to stay here and cooking meals for everyone."
"You're too kind, but let me finish up and I'll join you soon to judge. I learned to take a step back from the games," she sighed. "Is it really that bad," I laughed. "Oh I'll let you find out," she smirked, squeezing my shoulder.
I smiled sweetly at her before leaving to join the others. Nat immediately pulled me into her lap as I passed by her. "Jeez Tasha I could've fell," I giggled. "Nah I would've caught you,"she smirked, kissing my cheek.
"Alright lovebirds knock it off. ITS GAME TIME!" Yelena cheered. "What are we playing first," I asked. "Corn hole," Alexi answered. "Ooo yes I love this game!" I squealed, jumping up.
"Y/N is on my team," Natasha stated as the four of us huddled in the middle between the two boards. "Uh uh no way. You guys would do so good with your relationship super power thingys," Yelena claimed. "Relationship super power thingys?" I chuckled. "Yes. I say you're on my team and Nat is on Dad's"
"Fine by me I smiled. You're going down," I smirked evilly towards my girlfriend. "Alright hot shot, you're on," she said determined. "I am hot." Yelena and Alexi laughed while Natasha just rolled her eyes. "Come on Y/N let's go. Save that energy for the game," Yelena chuckled. "This is going to be great!" Alexi cheered.
(This is corn hole for those who don't know. I know this is kind of popular in America, but like now I wonder how popular. Is it just a southern thing? 😂)
Once we were each on our respective sides, Melina walked in the middle to explain the rules. "Ok so your foot, arm, or body cannot go past the end of the board. You must throw under hand. You get 1 point if it lands on the board and 3 if it goes in the hole. No cheating on points Alexi," Melina looks towards her husband. He scoffed, "I would never!"
"Uh huh, anyways. You alternate between each player who throws on your team, then the other team throws their 4 bean bags. Once all bags have been thrown, the score is added up. Remember, bags cancel each other out. So if Yelena's team has 3 bags on the board and one in the hole and Nat's team has 4 on the board then Yelena's team would have 3 points while Nat's would have one. Total= your score-opponents score. The first team to 21 points wins," she concluded. (Hope this makes sense for those who have never played.)
"We're gonna kick their ass," Yelena cheered, giving me a high five. "Hell yeah!"
Yelena threw the first bag, landing it on the board, just below the hole. "Shit push it in Y/N," Yelena groaned. "Don't worry I'm pretty good at this game." I lined up my shot and tossed the bag. It has a beautiful arch and it knocks Yelena's in, mine following with it. "Wooo hell yeah!" I cheered, hugging Yelena. "You still have two more bags to toss"Natasha grumbled. Oh this game is going to be so fun.
The current score was 18-18. We both only needed one bag in the hole to win, but we were evenly matched and kept canceling each other's scores. "Dammit stop cheating," Alexi yelled frustratingly at Yelena. "I am not! We're just good," Yelena scoffed.
"Jesus it is only the first day of games you two. Finish it up. There's no foul play happening darling," Melina directed towards the two. "But-" Yelena started but was cut off by Melina. "Nope come on."
Me and Tasha were laughing at the whole interaction. Of course we both still wanted to come out winners, but we could take a break from the competitiveness to make fun of the two. "Come on guys let's finish up," I said.
The two stopped bickering and put their game faces on. I had to toss the last bean bag and I wanted to make it in the hole to better our odds. We already had two in so a third would be a big help. I highly doubt Nat and Alexi could make three in to cancel our bags out.
I tossed the bag and too my relief, it went in. Yelena squealed, jumping into my arms. I spinned her around, laughing the whole time. "We still have our four bags. It's not over yet!" Nat groaned, probably jealous again. "Alright alright, take your shot," I said, placing Yelena back on the ground.
Currently, they had two in the hole and one on the board. We would still win as long as Nat didn't make this next shot. She lined it up and released the bag. It was as if time was moving in slow motion as we all anticipated the fate of the game. It landed with a thud, half hanging in the hole half on the board. We won.
Me and Yelena squealed, celebrating our victory while Nat and Alexi groaned. "Melina they cheated! Y/N was giving Nat goo goo eyes to distract her!" Alexi exclaimed. "She didn't. Stop being a sore loser darling," Melina replied, rubbing his shoulder. "I need vodka" he grumbled, walking over to the chair Nat was previously in to take the bottle.
Once me and Yelena finished celebrating our victory, I walked over to Nat. "We wooon," I teased her. "Yes you did and now I have no vodka to drown my sorrows," she joked. "I know something that could lift your spirits," I smirked, grazing my finger along her jaw. "Hmm do you really," she smiled, walking towards me, so I walked backwards in response.
I had totally forgot that we weren't the only ones there. We were practically undressing each other with our eyes in front of her mom and sister. I was still walking backwards and Nat forwards when her mom broke the stare off. "Oh Natasha don't!" Melina screamed. I looked in her direction confused and that's when I noticed where we were. By the pool.
My attention went back to Nat, who had a evil smirk plastered on her face. "Tasha baby, no. Think through this," I tried to reason with her. She stopped for a second, "ok I've thought through it. Have a nice swim!" She said, shoving me in the pool.
The water was freezing. When I resurfaced, Natasha's laughter could be heard along with Yelena's while Melina looked concerned. "Now my spirits are lifted," she smirked.
"Natasha that was rude! You're worse than your father sometimes I swear. Help her up!" Melina stated. She rolled her eyes but offered her hand to me. I smirked, taking ahold of her hand when a look of realization crossed her features. At that moment, I yanked her arm, pulling her in with me.
Now it was my turn to laugh. "You deserved that one," Melina and Yelena said in unison. "And now my spirits are lifted," I smiled, attaching my body to hers, kissing her lips to make up for it.
