A Grocery Store Incident

Todays Saturday, it's been a few days since meeting Chifuyu. I thought I would see him again soon since he said he lived close by. But it's not like I care, he is just a stranger.

I opened my bag to pull out my phone. There was one message from Mom. 

Hi honey! Sorry to ask you to do this, I know you're busy all the time. But is it possible if you could run the the grocery store and grab a few ingredients for me?

Sure!

You're the best sweetheart! Here's the list: Eggs, Bread, Spam, Cheese, Green Onions, Chicken Nuggets.

I spun on my heel and started in the direction of the grocery store. The walk to the grocery store took only ten minutes. Once I arrived I grabbed a basket and put my purse in it. I have kind of become the errand girl, when I was thirteen I always offered to help Mom and Dad with anything. Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy helping my parents out! Just, sometimes it makes my life a little harder. And know i'm always running around with errands to do.

I looked down at the list on my phone. Just green onions left. As I walked to the green onions, two guys blocked my path. 

"Excuse me." I said squeezing past them. I was only a few steps away from them when I heard them snickering. I glanced back at them and saw they were holding my purse! I set my basket down and stormed up to them.

"That's my bag, can I have it back?" I asked holding out my hand. The guys started laughing. I felt myself get angrier. 

"This is our's now." The taller one said with a disgusting smile on his face. I tried to grab my bag from the taller boy, but he grabbed my wrist. "Do you really think you can get this back that easily?" He said, I gasped squeezing my wrist harder. The taller boy tossed my bag to the shorter one. I tried to pull out of his grip but he squeezed harder. "Not so fast cutie." The tall boy said. I reached up with my free hand to try to pull his hand off my wrist. The boys just laughed at my attempt. I couldn't take this anymore, I reached up and slapped the guy in the face. They stopped laughing now. "Now you listen here-" He couldn't finish his sentence before he was kicked in the side of his head. The tall boy released my wrist and fell to the ground. I look over at the shorter boy, who now had dropped my purse and was running for his life. 

"Are you alright?" I deep voice asked from behind me. I turned around and saw I tall boy with a dragon tattoo on the side of his head. I nodded not trusting myself to speak.

"Here you go." Another voice said, this one was lighter than the other guys. I turned to see a short boy with long blonde hair holding my bag. He seemed younger than the other guy.

"Thank you." I squeaked taking my bag. I grabbed my basket but instantly dropped it. My wrist was screaming from the guy squeezing it.

"Do you need some help?" The older guy asked. I nodded my head and he came over and grabbed my basket. We started making are way to the check out when i remembered.

"I forgot the green onions!" I said turning around. The older boy stopped me by putting a hand on my shoulder than looking at the younger boy.

"Mikey, go grab the green onions." Mikey looked up at him and said, "Why do I have too?" The older boy just frowned at him and Mikey just sighed at ran off.

"You didn't have to make him do that. You already helped me a ton." I said.

"How bout you treat us to lunch then." The older boy said, then held out his hand "I'm Draken." I shook his hand with my good one. "Y/N"

When Mikey got back, Draken told him I was taking them out to lunch. Mikey smiled and said, "Good, cause I'm starving!" We left the store and walked towards the restaurant of Mikeys choice. We got a table and I stuffed the groceries under the table. After a few minutes of waiting a waiter came and took are orders. 

"I kids meal again Mikey? You're sixteen, grow up a little." Draken said. Mikey looked like he had been betrayed and started to pout. Draken started scolding Mikey while he just crossed his arms and looked away from him. I couldn't help but laugh at how funny they were together. When I stopped laughing I saw Draken and Mikey were looking at me.

"Why are you laughing?" Mikey asked.

"You guys are like toddlers!" I said. 

"I am not!" Mikey and Draken said at the same time. Then they looked at each other and started arguing about who was more a toddler. It was pretty clear who was the toddler, but I was having so much fun. After lunch we started to walk back to my place, when I heard a familiar voice.

"Mikey, Draken, Y/N!" I turned around to see Chifuyu running towards us. Mikey started running at him and swung his fist aiming for his gut. Chifuyu grunted and fell over clutching his stomach. Mikey just smiled at what he accomplished. I went over and helped Chifuyu off the floor. 

"What are you doing here?" I asked. 

"I was looking for you, you left your notebook on the subway." He said handing it to me. "I found it two days ago."

"Wait!" Mikey interrupted, "This is the subway girl?!" Chifuyu stormed over to Mikey and dragged him a few feet away. I guess he was threatening him, cause Mikey had his hands raised in a 'I surrender' type of way. When they walked back over Mikey had a huge smile of his face. 

I looked down at my watch: 1:30pm. I had let Mom know I was staying out for a bit, but I really needed to get these groceries home. "Hey, do you guys mind helping me get these groceries home?" I asked the boy. They all agreed and we started are journey to my place. Once we made it to my place, the boys helped bring the groceries inside.

"Who are your friends?" Mom asked walking into the kitchen.

"This is Draken, Mikey, and Chifuyu." I said pointing to each of them.

"Would you guys like to stay for some tea?" Mom asked smiling. They all nodded and Mom walked around the counter to start making some tea. "Hey honey do you mind grabbing the cups?" I walk over to the cabinet with the tea cups and opened it. But when I grabbed one of the cups a sharp pain shot up my wrist and I dropped the cup. It shattered against the floor and I clutched my wrist in my hand.

"Honey are you alright!?" My mom asked concerned. I felt someone come up behind me and pull my hand off my wrist.

"That's a nasty bruise." Draken said. I looked down at my wrist that now had a dark purple ring around it. 

"Oh my gosh! what happened!?" Mom asked me even more confused and worried.

"I-I tripped and landed on it wrong." I said glancing at Draken hoping he wouldn't say anything. Draken did say a word but only asked where the first aid kit was. Chifuyu ran to go get it and helped put some ointment on my wrist and wrap it up. Thirty minutes later the boys got ready to leave. When we stepped outside Draken stopped me.

"Why didn't you tell your Mom the truth?" 

"If I did, I would never get to leave the house again for awhile." I said looking at my feet. Mikey and Chifuyu walked over to us. "The truth is, When I was little I ran into a lot of problem with getting lost and creepy people trying to hurt me. So I can't always tell Mom the truth without her overreacting."

"You know your Mom worries about you because she loves you. You shouldn't be afraid to tell her anything." Chifuyu said taking my hand and giving it a squeeze. I smiled at them and thanked them for their help. As they walked away I watched as they pushed each other around and laughed. Maybe I should try to make some friends for once.
