I'm balking. I don't know what to say. Syreena's looking at me, smiling, and I try to brush away my nerves. To no avail, I might add.

I try and channel my inner Byren. They gave me a pep talk of sorts, both encouraging and slightly insulting me at the same time. Of course.

"Hey, you finally gonna ask out Syreena?"
"Um. Yes?" I remember Byren shaking his head, and sighing.
"You've had a crush on her since, like, seventh grade. Forever. And you still haven't asked her to be your girlfriend? Please." They patted my shoulder sympathetically, sighing once again.

"Grey, my dearest friend. Most amazing, treasured friend." They raise raise eyebrow at me playfully. "Bestie," Byren continues. I gag, grinning shakily.

"But really, get a move on. You two are embarrassing to watch." Byren gives me a shove, and I notice Syreena walking out. "Go get her tiger," I hear them yell. People give me weird looks, but I'm grateful for Byren's encouragement.

I dash out a side exit, hoping to catch Syreena by the main exit. And here we are.

I clear my throat, take a deep breath, and hope I won't regret anything.
"So, there was a reason I wanted to meet up with you. I've- I've always really liked you." Her hazel eyes widen slightly.

"I think you're the most amazing person, and I don't know if these feelings are one-sided but... would you like to go out with me?" I squeeze my hands into fists. There. I've said it.

Syreena reaches over to hug me, and her gorgeous black hair tumbles over her shoulder.

"Yes. Yes!"
