Chapter 2 DEM Strikes

"Neri," Natsuro aka Artemis said as he looked at his twin, "Now!"

"Eli," the two of them said in unison as they changed into their respective astral dress and suit.

When they already changed into their spirit form, the personnels shot their weapons at them, from machine guns to laser beams. The two of them raised their hand and formed a barrier in front of them. They then split up, raised their hands and yelled,

"XERAPHIEL!"

"URIEL!"

A bow with a vine as its string and a bluish crossbow with a water string materialized in their respective hands. They both pulled their strings and shot blue and green Reiryoku arrows towards the DEM personnels. The personnels activated their territories as their arrows exploded upon impact and smoke flew everywhere. The two of them used this opportunity and attempted to flee from the scene but the personnels managed to get out of the smoke and pursued them. They started shooting guns, missiles and lasers towards the twins. The two of them turned back and activated their barriers to block the incoming attacks. The two of them then shot Reiryoku arrows towards the personnels but they blocked their attacks as they all flew towards Artemis and Shogun with their Reiryoku swords ready. Artemis changed his bow into his kunais and charged them with reiryoku. He then slashed multiple times and sent multiple dozen flying slashes towards the personnels. They managed to block the slashed but it cracked all of their territories as smoke flew everywhere. As the smoke cleared, the two spirits were nowhere to be seen.

"Control center, this is squad 3," One of the personnels said through her communicator, "The spirits are gone."

"What do you mean gone?!" The person from the communicator asked her, "Their Reiryoku signatures are still there... It's right on you."

"On us?..." the personnel said as she looked around her

Seeing their fellow personnel looking around for the spirits, they all started looking around. One of them looked above and yelled, "LOOK OUT! ABOVE US!"

When they all looked up, they saw Artemis and Shogun above them. Artemis had his bow pulled back with a concentrated reiryoku arrow in his finger. He released the arrow as the personnels activated their territories. But as the arrow was approaching them, Artemis snapped his fingers as the arrow exploded and roots tied themselves onto the personnels' territory before they had time to react. Artemis waved his other hand down as a big root shot down towards the ground like an anchor while Shogun raised her hand in front of her face as the nearby fire hydrant exploded and a water pillar went towards the tied personnels, covering all of them. The two of them threw their hands to the ground as the personnels were slammed into the road and created a crater while dust and rubble went everywhere. As the dust cleared, the personnels were all unconscious with their territories broken.

"All right," Artemis said as he started flying away, "Let's get out of here."

"Alright," Shogun said as she followed Artemis away from the scene.

Unbeknownst to them, a DEM personnel managed to regain consciousness and saw the two spirits flying away from the scene. She then activated and talked through the communicator.

"Artemis and Shogun have gotten away," she said through communicator, "Send the Bandersnatches."

After a few minutes of flying, the two spirits then landed on a rooftop of a high building in Tengu City. From the top of the building, they could see the whole view of Tengu City as its whole.

"The view never gets old doesn't it, Artemis?" Shogun said as she sat on the edge of the building.

"Yeah," Artemis said as he observed the city down below, "I wonder what's Shido doing?"

"Probably having some fun at the island," Shogun said as she shrugged,

"Bet you 100 yens that he is trying to seal spirits again," Artemis said to Shogun while extending his right hand facing up, "You in?"

"Yeah," Shogun said as she slapped her hand onto Artemis' hand, "Huh?"

The rooftop there is suddenly covered by countless robotic shadows. The twins looked up and saw dozens upon dozens of triangle headed robots with a camera for their eyes surrounding them in large numbers.

"What the hell," Artemis said as he got up and raised his hand, "Shogun, get ready."

"Don't have to tell me twice," Shogun said as she raised her hand.

"XERAPHIEL!"

"URIEL!" the two of them said in unison.

Their Angels then appeared in their respective hands in the form of a tree branch bow with vine as its string in Artemis' hand and a blue colored crossbow with a water string in Shogun's hand. After their angels materialized, all of the robots charged at them in unison. Artemis pulled his bow string, shot a large Reiryoku arrow towards the robots as it split into a dozen shards and destroyed a few robots in an instant. Shogun did the same thing as Artemis then changed her crossbow into a katana, charged it with Reiryoku and slashed the air as a Reiryoku charged flying slash hit a cluster of robots and destroyed them. Artemis then turned his bow into kunais, charged them with Reiryoku and sent a flurry of flying slashes towards the robots and destroyed some of them. As he was landing, a robot managed to get on the rooftop and approached Artemis. Shogun charged at the robot and sliced it in half horizontally.

"Don't let your guard down, Artemis,"

"Alright," Artemis said as he slashed a robot near him, "Behind you."

Hearing his warning, Shogun immediately jumped up and did a diagonal slash while spinning towards the back and slashed a robot in half diagonally. When she looked around, all of the robots managed to get on the roof and surrounded them. Artemis and Shogun charged towards the robots that were surrounding them, slashing, jumping and twirling as they destroyed more robots. But after a few minutes, the twins' Reiryoku reserve began to whittle down as the robots seemed to come endlessly until the two of them were pushed against each other's backs.

"This is bad, Artemis," Shogun said as she shot a blue Reiryoku arrow towards the robots, "They seem to flow endlessly."

"You're right," Artemis said as he shot his green Reiryoku arrow, "The DEM can capture us if this keeps u- LOOK OUT!"

"Huh?!" Shogun said as she looked behind her.

Unfortunately, Shogun was too late as a robot managed to grapple her arms from behind, thus unabling her to attack. Due to him being distracted, Artemis also got grappled from behind by the robot. As the robots came closer and closer to them, they found themselves surrounded with no way out. But suddenly, a barrage of shadow spheres were launched at the robots and destroyed half of their numbers in an instant. A robot's shadow suddenly turned dark purple in color and enlarged as a young male with short combed messy brown hair, wearing a purple long sleeved shirt covered by black jacket, black trousers and black shoes. His hands are covered by black boxing gloves with gold linings on them. His body can be seen built as bits of bulging muscles can be seen alongside his wide shoulders.

"Looks like I found some sparring partners," the new spirit said calmly.
