WHO WOULD'VE ever guessed that I, Melody Winters, would end up in detention on the second to last day of school? I cannot believe this. All I did was tell my History teacher, and I quote, "I'm not going to study history all night just so I pass the stupid pop quiz you assigned for tomorrow."He overreacted if you ask me. I mean, it's my fault if I fail my last day of school pop quiz. And putting me in detention after school when I am 'supposed' to be studying isn't going to help me pass my test.
So here I am, sitting in detention, making a paper airplane with the blank piece of paper I found in my backpack. I carefully folded the page piece by piece before holding up my masterpiece. I look up at the educator, Mr. Arnoldton, who is assigned to be in the room with the students who had gotten confinement for the day, and throw the airplane.
I let out a small giggle as it hits him on the back of his bald head, he was turned facing the other way. He lets out a huff in frustration and turns around to check on us before turning back.
I promptly grow bored and seeing as I can't use my phone, I have absolutely nothing to do. Thinking of the only time-consuming thing at the moment, I lay my head down and close my eyes. I relax my muscles, try to clear my mind, and drift off to sleep.

Twenty minutes after dozing off I'm awoken by the sound of the detention dismissal bell. I jerk my head up from my arms and pick up my bag heading toward the front of the class. I grab my phone off the teacher's desk and power walk out to my car.
Finally, I can go home and eat the thing I've been yearning for since school ended. And not to mention the extra hour and a half I had to wait to leave the building, all appreciation goes to my history teacher.
I hop into my car and exit the school's parking lot. I drive the way home and decide to stop for Panda Express. I order Orange Chicken, lemonade, fried rice, and steamed broccoli- my favorite things to get from here. I pay and leave finishing my drive home.
I turn on the radio just for the song Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? by Arctic Monkeys to start blasting out of the speakers. I turn the volume down a bit before singing along.
❝ Now it's three in the mornin'
and I'm trying to
change your mind
Left you multiple missed calls
and to my message you reply
"Why'd you only call me
when you're high?" ❞I stop singing for a second to take a drink of my lemonade. "Mmm," I moan out in delight.
I finally make it home and pull up into my driveway. I get out with my food and beverage, unlocking my front door I walk in and lock it back. I try and be quiet knowing my parents will be upset. Regardless, it was no use trying and be silent when I knew my parents got the email and a phone call.
