TODAY IS the day. The day I graduate officially. It's been a week since the last day of school and I've been buying a bunch of swimsuits and things to decorate my dorm room. I've bought bedsheets, pillows, desk essentials, school supplies, hair stuff, and clothes.

At the moment I'm putting on my white mini level up ruched dress to go under my maroon gown. The contrast the dress brought was amazing. I grab my tassels and put them on over the gown where my neck is located.

I grab my cap with the little tassel on it and put it on over my curled hair. I grab my dark red lipstick a apply a few swipes to my moisturized lips. And finally, I slip on my heels then grab my things to leave.

I'm screaming on the inside but trying to remain, mostly, fully composed. I can see my dad in the stands smiling proudly as I stood waiting for my name to be called. I also noticed my younger and older cousins, aunts, uncles, and Abuela all sitting with Dad as well.

I couldn't help but smile in pure bliss. If my own mother can't or won't show up it's fine I have my amazing family, excluding her.

And finally, the moment that had my stomach churning finally came. "Melody Winters."

As I walked up to get my high school diploma my hands pricked with sweat out of nervousness. I begin taking deep shaky breaths to calm myself.

Finally, I make it to the forty-something-looking woman who was handing out certificates. She gave me a wrinkled smile when I got to her. I grinned and continued walking across the stage with my diploma in hand.

Stepping off the stage, I see my dad and smile at him. I let out a breath in relief, proud of my accomplishments.

My friends Kira Brown, and Annie Cheng had already gotten their diplomas about a hundred students before I did. I could see the tears pricking around threatening to spill from their eyes. In all honesty, I felt like a proud mother at the sights.

Somewhere around thirty minutes later, the last name was finally called. And we tossed our graduation caps when we got the okay to do so. Well, some didn't but most did, I did. I just threw mine not very high.

After the whole graduation finished, I met up with both Annie and Kira near the entrance of the stands on the side of the field. We all hug letting tears fall from our eyes, messing up our makeup.

My dad walks over and I hug him and all of my other family members that came. They looked in awe as they talked about how proud they were at my accomplishments. I felt myself blushing from the attention and compliments.
