I wonder if everyone else feels like this? Michael thought to himself. He was walking to the bus stop with his siblings. Elizabeth skipped and jumped down the sidewalk as Evan slowly walked along with me. He looked sad but he always looks sad. It was like a default setting. He thought of Melanie and this doll fantasy he made up. If he told anyone he'd probably sound crazy. Yet he still believed it. They made it to the bus stop and waited. There were already a few other kids there. It didn't take long for the bus to show up. The Aftons and other kids walked onto the bus. Michael got on first and walked to his normal bus seat and saw his friend Jeremy Fitzgerald sitting there too. He sat next to him.
"What's up Fitzgerald?" He held up his fist which in response, Jeremy hit with his own.

"The sky." Jeremy chuckled at how stupid that was. But Michael couldn't help but giggle. Michael pulled out his Walkman and handed a headphone to Jeremy. Jeremy took it and put it in his ear. They listened to the music in it for a while. Michael looked at Jeremy's hand. It looked soft. He wanted to touch it. But that would be weird. So he let the thought go. After a while he was thinking about stuff again. He turned to look at Jeremy. He was looking out the window and tapped his foot to the beat of the music.
Maybe I shouldn't bother him about this doll stuff Michael thought. But he looked at Jeremy again and felt like he had to tell someone.
"Hey Jer?" He turned his head.
"Huh? What'd you call me?"
"Jer" Michael smirked.
"That's so stupid.." Jeremy chuckled. "But what's up?" Michale forgot what he wanted to say for a minute.

"Oh Uhm.." then he remembered, "Oh! Do you ever feel like what you do, doesn't feel like you?" Jeremy tilted his head in confusion. "Um.. I don't know how to explain it.. like what you do feels like you didn't do it, someone else did. But your body still did it. Like uhhh.." he tried to think of a simile. "Uhhh.. like a.. puppet on strings!" Jeremy only looked more confused. Yet he tried to respond anyway.
"Uhh no.. do you ever feel that way?"
"Uh.." he scratched the back of his neck with hand.
"Uhm yeah.. sometimes.."
"When?"
"Whenever really. The feeling just shows up randomly."
"Interesting, I guess."
"Yeah it's weird. I'm not sure why I told you. Just felt like it I guess."
"Oh." They were silent for the rest of the bus ride. Michael, extremely embarrassed by what he just said to Jeremy, blushed the rest of the way too. When they got to school Michael rushed off the bus. He ran to his locker, not sure exactly why. Jeremy was extremely confused. Michael grabbed his stuff and walked to class.

It was after school. Michael was hanging with his usual friend group. Some people were scared of them, mostly the people who they bullied and teased. Some kids didn't care much about them, but everybody knew who they were. They were walking out of school when one of the kids on the football team walked up to them, specifically Michael.
"Well hello, Afton." He said his name in a way that was supposed to sound intimidating.
"Hello, you..." The guy looked him up and down. Michael noticed and chuckled.
"What, am I hot?" He striked a pose real quick, which made his friends laugh.
"Shut up you Brit!" He pointed his finger at him. Michael stuck his hands in the air and looked around with a smirk.
"What were you doing around my girlfriend?"
"Who?"
"My Girlfriend! Kate!" He moved to show his girlfriend, which Michael immediately remembered.

He was talking to her earlier. Jokingly flirting with her once in a while as a joke. But he never meant it, she wasn't his type. But obviously took it seriously.
"Ohhhh!" Michael exclaimed. "Kate! Yes yes I remember now. She's hot you know, you chose lucky." He looked at Kate and she laughed, knowing it was a joke. But the boy only got angrier thinking he was serious.
"Don't talk to her Afton!!"
"Sorry I didn't catch your name? What was it again?" Michael asked, ignoring the boy's previous statement.

"It's Tyler, but that doesn't matter right now!" He grabbed the collar of Michael's shirt and pulled him close to him. Michael's eyes widened, because of the sudden impact, but quickly calmed back down.
"I don't want a jackass like you hanging out with my Kate."
"And what are you gonna do about it?" Michale teased, smirking. Tyler was fuming now, so he punched Michael in the face. Michael stumbled back, shocked. But his surprised face quickly turned back into a smirk. His friends gathered behind him, as Michael cracked his knuckles.

"So that's how it is huh?" Michael said. A huge crowd now surrounded the boys and the confused worried girl behind them all. Michael ran up to him and punched him in the face too. It only caused Tyler to stumble back a bit due to his bigger figure. Tyler swung his arm. Michael dodged it. Michael kicked Tyler's stomach, causing Tyler to fold. Michael slapped him, then a punch in the face. Tyler grabbed Michael in a chokehold. His arm wrapped around Michael's neck. Tight enough for him to stay put, but loose enough for him to breathe somewhat.

Michael's friends ran up to Tyler. Kicked him. Punched him. Slapped him. Hit him till he let go of me. Michael pushed him down. Tyler fell. Michael got on top of him and started to hit. Punch his face. Boom. Boom. Pow. Michael's knuckles throbbed. But that didn't stop him. Blood ran down Tyler's nose.

Michael felt like himself.

This was all him.

No Melanie controlling him.

It was his free time.

His time to do stupid stuff with her doing it.

This was all him.

Another punch. Another hit. OW.
Holy shit. Michael thought. Tyler had grabbed him and threw him on the ground. He was now pinned. Tyler managed a punch or two. Michael blocked with his arms. His friends came behind Tyler and tried to pull him off. Tyler hit his nose. Michael felt the blood. He touched it. Thick, and red. He could smell the Iron.

He kicked Tyler in the stomach. That didn't do much because Tyler grabbed Michael's arms and pinned them on the ground. Michael flared around, kicking Tyler.
Now some help from Melanie would be helpful. Michael told himself. Tyler let go of one of his arms to punch Michael's face. Michael used his free arm to punch Tyler back too. Tyler stumbled back, sitting on the sidewalk instead of hovering over Michael. Michael stood up and kicked Tyler. As he was he heard a voice in his head.

Run away now
You'll get In trouble
Principals coming

It caught him off guard and was swiped off his feet. He hit his head which caused him to roll onto his side. He wouldn't allow Tyler to get the last punch. His fist hit his nose with a smack.
"Don't think this is over Tyler." Michael motioned his friends to follow him as they ran towards the buses. They pushed through the crowd and ran to their bus. They all laughed as they climbed on.
"Glad we got out of there." Michael laughed. They made their way to the back of the bus and sat down.
"Any of you got a napkin?" He asked his friends. They all shook their heads.
"Shit.." Michael mumbled.
"I got one." Jeremy said, peeking his head over the seat as he sat in front of them. He handed it to Michael.

"Woah! What happened?"
"A fight."
"Did you win?"
"I think so." Michael responded. Jeremy sat back down as the bus started moving.
Michael cleaned his nose and thought to himself.

That was all me..
No one else..
Yet, did Melanie talk to me?
Did they tell me to get out of there?
I don't know..
