I separate myself from Nevia's new body, now called Maya, and peek at her face.

Her face was the very picture of seriousness.

Well, I expected this. This is Nevia we are talking about.

Nevia, no, I guess in this circumstance, Maya, pulls Mary to the side and tries to talk to her.

"Mary, not many people are here this late at night. Every adventurer good enough to go to the Demonic Forest aren't working right now. Well, it makes sense. If they are that good, they don't need to work this late. The only ones that need to stay up this late to work for money are those that aren't skilled enough to sustain themselves properly." (Maya)

"That's a harsh thing to say...but where are you going with this?" (Mary)

"There isn't enough time. I'll do it myself." (Maya)

"Haaahhh, I thought you would say that. Sorry, but on my pride as a veteran receptionist in the Adventurer's Guild, I won't allow a rookie adventurer to take on a mission that is too above your level. I'm sorry but I can't let you do this." (Mary)

Mary makes a resolute face.

....she won't be easy to convince.

("What will you do now? How do you plan on convincing her? Or will you just go in yourself? I mean, you don't even know where in the Demonic Forest they are.") (Makoto)

("No, there is definitely a way to convince her easily. Sorry, Makoto, but I'm going to have to use your name for a bit") (Nevia)

("Huh? What do you mean by that?") (Makoto)

My question was answered almost immediately after.

"I can't let you stop me, Mary. Master Makoto would never forgive me if I let this slide here!" (Maya)

"Huh!?" (Mary)

("Huh?") (Makoto)

"Most importantly, I won't be able to forgive myself if I don't help now! If I can't...than what was all that training I did with Master Makoto for? Would it all go to waste? No! I won't let it! I trained to protect people!" (Maya)

"W-wait, are you saying that the Rozes Hero, Makoto, trained you!?" (Mary)

Maya then makes an "oops" face.

"Shhh! Don't talk to loud! People aren't supposed to know yet..." (Maya)

Mary then makes a conflicted face.

Oh, I see.

If she makes Mary think that she is the disciple of a Hero, she might be able to pull this off.

Of course, just saying that she is my disciple, wouldn't make Mary believe her.

But Mary saw Maya's soul book awhile ago.

She had stats very similar to mine, in both physical strength, and in Magic proficiency, while I was still a regular adventurer.

She even has the Spirit User skill, listed down. One that not many Human people have.

As the very receptionist that watched my growth from a regular adventurer to a hero, Mary probably thinks that mine, and her cases are very similar.

Maya's words probably hold weight because of that.

It is only because we spent so much time together that this works. If it wasn't Mary, it probably wouldn't have convinced anyone else.

It also helps that Maya has silver hair, and gold eyes.
