As Thomas got older, his anger started to become too much for him to control and it would come out at unexpected moments that would leave his classmates cowering in a corner.
As he got older, the strength of his bond with Stacy, and his love for her grew, which her friends started to notice. When they started to notice Thomas' feelings towards her, they continuously bombarded her with comments, telling her to stop hanging out with him, calling him a creep or crazy and that he was too weird to hang out with her. The comments slowly began to infuriate Stacy and she slowly stopped talking to her friends and just focused most of her time on Thomas. As they spent more time together, he began to make it his mission to be the best person he could be for her, and would change the way he looked and acted to make her more interested in him. It was like twisting around his personality.

As he and Stacy got closer, he decided not to talk to his parents about her. He was worried about getting them angry or making his already injured ego even more bruised. They never noticed because they didn't really care about what he was doing unless it brought them a disadvantage. Which was quite often. Interestingly, when the parties his parents threw would take place at his house, he would notice how they sometimes struggled to keep their control around him. When Thomas would walk by his parents, their eyes would slightly twitch and they would look away from him. To him that showed their weakness, making him feel less worthless. Unfortunately, that feeling would not last long, because Patrick and his friends were in his class the following year and didn't waste a second starting up with him. Since the start of the year, they would trip him, dump water on him, call him names and host something called "The Event" where one of Patrick's friends would hold Thomas down and students would literally line up to punch him until he was left badly hurt on the ground. They saw right through his act of being "normal" and would taunt him about it all the time, leaving him feeling helpless, as his glare followed them. One night, when Thomas was 12, he had a harsh day at school and at home and had a very bizarre dream that he never forgot, even years after he had it. He was in a large, dark and completely empty room, with one rope leading to the ceiling that had to be at least 70 feet high. Thomas pulled it and everything began to move in slow motion as down came millions of gallons of blood onto his body.

Instead of reacting in disgust, he just let it come down onto him. The blood completely covered him and started to drip down his face and he had to close his eyes. He then slowly turned to his side, his head turning last, showing the image of a faceless, bloody head. He was looking down to let the blood drip off his face, very slowly. He woke up and found it very surreal and decided against telling anyone about it or how it made him feel.

When he would get grounded by his parents and wouldn't be allowed to eat anything that day, he would often slam his hands on something or scream out in class or in the bathroom, causing everyone to jump. Instead of being scared of him, they would all laugh thinking he was doing it for fun, which actually stung him even more emotionally.

Then it was the day of his eighth grade graduation and everyone's parents came, except his of course. He didn't have a quote to put in the year book and he didn't smile when they took a group photo. By the time high school rolled around, his anger almost took him over and got him out of his silent stage. He knew to always force a grin around Stacy though. Over the summer, he kept counting down the days until high school would start, and he couldn't wait to see Stacy physically mature. He would dream about a life with Stacy often. He never told anyone about them. One night he was trying not to touch his newest bruise when he suddenly dozed off from exhaustion while squeezing his shirt at the waist.
