AUGUST SLIPPED AWAY INTO A MOMENT OF TIMERoman Delphi
It was the first day of senior year. I look around for my best friend, Remy Amore. I don't see him. Instead, it was a group of three that caught my attention. My ex, my ex's best friend, and their one dumb friend.
Standing by my side was my slightly immature twin brother, Remus Delphi, and his also slightly immature, best friend, Janus Alburt.
The three of them were laughing hysterically over something. I couldn't hear the joke over Janus and Remus's ogling over all the new guys. My ex catches my eye. I smirk and give him a wink.
My ex fakes a gag and whispers something to his best friend. I turn to Janus and Remus who is still staring.
"Will you two please shut up or look elsewhere?" I huff, crossing my arms. "I'm trying to eavesdrop on Virgil."
The two look at each other, bursting out in laughter. I will never understand those two. They complain that they are still single but instead of going out, they gawk at people.
Remus puts a hand on my shoulder, "It's okay Ro. You don't have to stalk your ex." He jokes. My mouth forms into a thin line, my face turning red. I hear laughter from behind me, I turn around to shoo off whoever is behind me.
I'm met face to head with blonde curly hair. I groan. The only person I know with blonde curly hair is Patton aka the ex's best friend. He's a bitch and everybody knows it.
"Patton!" I greet, and we give each other false smiles. That's the thing about being popular. Say one wrong word and all your status and hard work go down.
"Roman!" Patton greets back, his blue eyes lighting up upon seeing me. He puts his hand out to shake. I grab it a bit too hard. He laughs through the pain.
Remus and Janus stand by my sides now like my own private bodyguards. I smile deviously and Patton's eye twitches upon seeing them. I let go of his hand. He takes it into his own, rubbing where I grabbed it.
"How was your summer?" He asks. My hands clench angrily, but my smile still stands.
"I'm sure you know all about my summer," I said through repressed rage. I was so close to going psycho on him, but Remus pulled me back by my shoulders. Patton laughed with an innocent smile.
"Oh, that's right! I forgot all about you and Virgil." Patton made a face at just the thought. "I mean," He laughed. "I heard that you were kind of trashy." He whispered the last part in my ear, but no one else heard.
There was a pause. I scoffed, glaring down at him. This bitch did not just say that. I pop my knuckles, preparing to beat the living shit out of him. Before I could even get a hit in though, the teacher comes in. Patton gave me his eminent smile, waving me off as I got to sit down.
It was the infamous Mrs.Satan, that wasn't her real name but that's what we all called her when we had back in sophomore year. She was awful, she always knew what drama was going on and how to announce it in front of the whole class. It was embarrassing.
She scanned the room, cringing when she saw my group and me. She groaned out loud when she saw Virgil and his group were in her class too. Mrs.Satan groaned again when she realized that Virgil and I were in her class, together, with our friends, who hate each other.
Mrs.Satan talked for the first 40 minutes of class about what we'll be doing in her class, the last 20 minutes were spent talking about her summer and asking how ours went. I watch the clock tick, waiting for it to go off.
