You walked outside to where Caroline was standing. Her expression was filled with sadness, as her head came to look at you. "Caroline, are you okay?"
"Yes. No," she mumbled as you walked by her side, giving her a look to go on if she wanted. "Tyler, he didn't show up. He told me something had came up and it was, uh, important. It's always important with boyfriends, I guess."
"Well, I know I'm not Tyler," you responded, swallowing a lump in your throat. "But you could always dance with me, if you want."
She looked to you, a smile forming on her tear-stained face, nodding her head delicately. You finally took her hand, leading the two of you inside and danced the night away.
