I watched as the rest of the Fallen cheered for Azriel’s victory, while Kazier and Clarren congratulated me for doing so well against him. I scoffed at their half-hearted wishes and glowered at Azriel when he glanced my way. Then I stormed into the cabin and dashed for the bathroom.

I opened the faucet at the sink and cupped the water into my hands to throw onto my face. I did it a few more times to calm me down and then I looked at myself in the mirror. Suddenly, the door opened and Azriel appeared in the bathroom behind me. I masked the surprise in my face with a deep frown and then closed the faucet.

“Seems to me that you cannot take a loss” He said, sounding somewhat amused as he folded his arms and lent back on the dresser behind him. “You cheated, Azriel” I told him, while looking at him through the mirror. “I cheated? I gave you a fair fight Mira, with many opportunities to knock me out. It is hardly my fault that you could not use what you have been taught to your advantage”.

“You cheated by distracting me!” I yelled angrily and turned around to face him. Azriel raised his eyebrows at my words. “You let yourself be distracted, Mira, that you cannot blame on anyone else. You mortal females are so unbelievably obsessed with the attraction of a male, that you could not tear your gaze away, even midway through a fight”.

My mouth fell open in shock. Where the hell did he get the audacity from? “I do not find you attractive!” I screeched at him, my nostrils flaring wide with anger, Azriel on the other hand seemed unbearably calm. Not his usual fuming self, what the hell was wrong with him? “Do you not? Then tell me Mira, of whom did you dream of yesterday, while you deep in slumber after being stung by a demon of lust?”.

I nearly choked on my own tongue. How dare he ask me that? With what right did he think he could possibly expect an answer from me about this. More importantly, did he know? Did he know it was only him that appeared in my dream?

I swallowed the thick lump in my throat and regained my ability to speak. “That doesn’t concern you, Azriel. Why are you even asking me?”.  Azriel didn’t answer me, instead he looked down at the floor and then back at me. A muscle ticked in his jaw while I waited for him to say something. “I am not answerable to you, remember this, but if I see you forcing yourself on any one of my Fallen brothers, I will make you regret it”.

“What the hell are you trying to say? I’m not desperate for any attention from a man”. “I would say otherwise, all I did was look at you and you battled to avert your eyes”. “That’s because I…” I started but caught myself before I said something stupid. “Because you what?”. “Because you started it first! You stared at me first!”. “I was simply testing you, and you failed, miserably so”.

“Testing me, how?” I yelled, infuriated. “If you were more focused on winning the fight, you could have easily done so. But your intention lies elsewhere, does it not?”. I rolled my eyes and then folded my arms across my chest. “Stop messing around and just accuse me of whatever you have going on in that head of yours”. Azriel stepped forward slightly closer to me and then shook his head.

“I know you wanted to show off in front of the others”. “Excuse me? Show off?”. “That would be the only way to gain my Fallen brothers’ attention”. “How are you still going on about that? I literally just told you that I don’t want any attention from them!” I screamed at him.

“You are lying to me, Mira! I know there is one Fallen brother of mine that you have taken a liking to. Is it Kazier or Zeir, or…Clarren, be honest with me” He said and gripped my shoulders. “I know you had a sexual dream about someone, the Greater demon of lust confirmed this. I need to know who he is so I can protect you from him”. I stared up at Azriel’s grey – blue eyes and removed his hands from my shoulders.

“Could you protect me from yourself Azriel, because the Fallen I dreamt of is you” I whispered up at him. Azriel frowned down at me, looking completely shocked. He hadn’t expected to hear me say his name, I could tell. So, I left the bathroom quietly and went straight to my room, leaving behind a bewildered Azriel.
