The meaning of that star is I'm yours and you are mine ~
The party was still going on and the music was blasting loudly in the villa. One could have heard it around all the area, but the neighbours seemed not to mind.
The two found lovers were together and alone, out of breath because of their fast movements, but happy.
"Ah-ah! I came first!"
"It is not fair!" She exclaimed, pretending to be upset while hiding her happiness. Jeno just watched her pouting and smiled at her childness. "It's totally fair. Not my fault if you aren't as good as myself."
"It is your fault your legs are so long!" She retarted pushing him and soon the two were lying on the green field.
"You're not that bad, by the way."
"I know I am not the best runner in this city, Lee Jeno."
They both smiled and stared up at the sky, which that night had some bright stars. Suddenly, after minutes of complete silence, Hanbyeol raised her arm and pointed it to the sky.
"Look! There are Vega and Altair!"
Jeno tried to find those stars, which he had never heard of before, but he could only see white bright dots. However, Hanbyeol didn't mind his ignorance. She found it cute, but that wouldn't ever come out from her mouth.
"There is an ancient Chinese legend about them. It talks about two lovers who can only meet once every year. They are divided by the Silver River, our Milky Way."
"It's a beautiful legend..." He murmured as he was thinking deeply. What if Hanbyeol and him were Vega and Altair? What if they were destined to be divided every time they met? And they both had to suffer for all their life time?
"I am sorry I left you all, all these years ago." Hanbyeol said in a melancholic voice, watching still the sky. "I am sorry I left you without saying goodbye..."
"That's okay. It was never meant to be a goodbye. We're together again!"
But she didn't answer. Jeno turned his head towards her, waiting and waiting anxiously. But she weren't going to let him inside her thoughts.
"How are the boys?" She said instead, and Jeno had to change topic for her. "They are good, yeah... Haechan can finally be a songwriter, while Jaemin was hired by a hospital as a psychologist, just days after our graduation!"
"And Renjun?"
Jeno exctitement quickly declined.
"Did he become an artist?" Hanbyeol said, but she noticed his distraught face. "Did he talk to the girl he liked...?"
"Yes, he did."
"And what is wrong? Were not they perfect for each other?"
"They were, but... None of them had the strength to live."
Hanbyeol was speechless. She hoped to be thinking wrong but, sadly, she wasn't.
"Your... Departure left a scar on every one of us. But to Renjun it opened an old one. He was struggling with depression , only his girl Iseul and his parents kept him going." Jeno explained embittered, knowing well to have all the attention of the woman. "He couldn't take it anymore when his parents suddenly died in a car incident."
That news left her horrified. She had come back from England after eight years only to find out that her best friend was dead and that it was all her fault. If she only had the strength to stand up to her mother, maybe Renjun could have had the strength to live.
"What about that girl, Iseul? What happened to her?"
"She wasn't better than him. Renjun actually prevented her suicide. So, I think they kinda agreed on... Killing themselves together."
"You think?" She asked confused and Jeno sighed heavily. He couldn't help but feel embarrassed about that certain envelope that he jealously kept hidden in a box. "They... Left us some letters, to explain what happened. We immediately gave Iseul's one to the police. Renjun's, however... I never dared to open mine."
Although Hanbyeol was extremely shocked by all that information, she could still understand him. "You are still affected by his death... And by my departure."
Jeno didn't answer and to her it was an agreement. "I get it. You cannot live with someone as unpredictable as me."
"What if I want to spend my life with someone as you?" Jeno said istinctively and regretted it right after as Hanbyeol turned her head to look straight at him. "You should not."
"But I want."
"No, you do not. You are just surprised by my sudden appearence and you will tire out of me as soon as you understand."
"Understand what? I literally don't know what happened to you, what did you have to endure all those years. Why does your mum seem so opposing to your happiness? Why do you always have to leave me...?"
"I... I am truly sorry, Jeno." Hanbyeol muttered after hearing his voiced pain. "That is why you should just turn and live your life. Now I am an adult, but I do not know if my mother will show up to put me in charge of her business. I am not made to stay, even if I would like to."
"You can stay, if you want to. This is your life, not your mother's." Jeno firmly stated, gazing with confidence into her watery eyes. Hanbyeol didn't want to have hope, but that was exactly what that magnificent man was giving her.
"We can start with meeting again. I can take you anywhere you want, I know some quiet cute places in the centre. We have a lot to talk about and a night is not enough."
"Even a lifetime could not be enough..." Hanbyeol muttered with bitterness in her voice, but Jeno smiled at her.
"We could talk in front of a cup of coffee or... I could take you to meet them... Only if you feel like it, obviously! I don't want to-"
"Thank you, Jeno. I truly appreciate it." The woman said with a sad smile.
Jeno interpreted it as the melancholy of Renjun's death, but little did he know she was actually saddened by her own horrible plan.
