chapter eight:
Until the moment that Jasper realised that his best friend had an inkling about what was going on, he was still unsure of how he was going to explain his situation.
Sure, Bryan did find it weird when Jasper asked about Carmen so out of the blue but he knew that Carmen wasn't Jasper's type. Of course, as a friend, he didn't press on about it.
Jasper sat by the corner of his bed and groaned. He messed up. Big time. His mind raced back and forth between Carmen and Bryan and it was tiring, to say the least.
"Jasper! Guess who's home?" a familiar voice shouted from downstairs.
He snapped out of his thoughts and ran down the stairs. His sister was back! Jasper immediately gave his sister a tight hug and he told her how much he had missed her for the past two years.
"Wow, did puberty ram you in the face or what? You're looking good, Heath," his sister, Claire, complimented him.
"Not too shabby yourself," he answered and headed into the kitchen after his mum said that she would need help preparing dinner.

7:01pmClaire just came home. Talk tomorrow, alright? -J.
Jasper slid his phone into his pocket and went on helping his mum and sister with dinner. At least there was something that could help him keep his mind off about what he needed to tell Bryan for the time being.
When Carmen walked over to the door to switch off the 'OPEN' neon sign, Andy popped out of the kitchen with a smile plastered on his face.
"Bryan and I have plans tomorrow."
"Aw," she cooed. "I honestly felt that he had a thing for you."
"When?" Andy asked as he started sweeping the floors.
"Since high school? Or around after graduating? Not too sure, but it has been some time."
"So you knew he was gay?"
"Yeah, he told me and we cried about it." She laughed at that memory of them sitting on Bryan's couch, having a movie marathon. They were watching sappy movies like The Vow and then Bryan came out. At first she was shocked, but then the tears came out and she didn't know why but it definitely was happy tears. When she cried, he started crying and they ended up a total mess. Plus, the movie had an extra effect on them.
"Cried? Oh my god. You guys are so adorable." Andy laughed as he untied his apron, clearly ready to jet off from the workplace.
"By you guys, you mean Bryan?" Carmen asked slyly and grinned.
"Took you some guts to ask me just now."
"Took you some balls to go confront him just now."
"Touché."
"Now, go home and wash up. Then call Bryan and get to know each other while you're at it," she said and reassured Andy that she would handle closing up the café.
"What about the chess thingy?"
"Nah," she shook her head. "Bryan and I came to an agreement."
