chapter nineteen:
"Give me that letter, now, Andy." Carmen stood there with her head cocked to a side and if it was possible, her eyes were raging flames that couldn't be tamed.
"You're not quitting just because of that douchebag, are you?" Andy asked and crossed his arms.
"I'm quitting because I want to get away from everything and everyone, alright?"
"No, it's not alright. You can't just pack up and leave!"
"Oh, really? Watch me, Andy. How many more people must I lose to find one that's going to stick by me through thick and thin and not fuck up?"
"Carmen, you're not thinking this through. You're angry and upset. You're bound to make some irrational decisions at this emotional state!" Andy sighed and gripped Carmen's shoulders.
"I'm fine, Andy. I just want to leave, okay?"
"Why are you leaving anyway? There's no way in hell I'm going to let that asshole in here anyway, to pester you. You know that, right?" Andy gave a tiny smile and hoped that she would stay. He didn't like the idea of Carmen just packing up and leaving. Why should she leave when the one who's at fault is staying here living a normal life?
"Fine." Carmen grabbed the letter from Andy's back pocket and tore it in front of his own two eyes. "Happy now?"
"Very. Thank you," Andy said softly and hugged her. "Bryan is going to kill me if I let you leave. You know that, right? That lad sticks to you like glue! Both of you literally come as a package."
Carmen laughed and got back into the kitchen. Of course she still had the idea of leaving roaming around the corners of her mind. It has been two nights and she still couldn't comprehend how Jasper could have done that to her.
to: Bryan
from: Jasper
9:26pmCould you please tell her I'm sorry? I really didn't want to hurt her. Please, Bry. I beg of you.
"Who's that?" Carmen asked as she bit into her pizza.
"Nobody." Bryan tossed his phone on the couch and yawned.
"Let's see," Carmen mumbled as she scrolled through Bryan's phone sneakily.
"Hey! Don't you have any idea of something known as privacy?" Bryan asked sarcastically and tried to snatch his phone back but failed.
"Oh, it's him. You could just tell me that he texted you, you know?" Carmen said and passed Bryan his phone.
"Nah. He should wallow in that pit of guilt for another century. Anyway, are you sleeping over here tonight? I got the bed ready and everything." Bryan grinned happily.
"Nah," Carmen declined. "I have to go back somehow, right? I've camped here for like three days."
"I'm fine with it. Sammy is fine with it too, right Sammy?" He patted his dog and it barked in response. "See?"
"But I'm not. Plus, Joan is there alone. Sadly, I have to end this sleepover. We can do this some other time alright? You need your man here anyway." Carmen smirked as Bryan rolled his eyes.
"Okay. Come back anytime, yeah?" Bryan said as he watched Carmen grab her coat and bag.
"Yeah. See you tomorrow?" She hugged him and he nodded. "Bye!"
"Carmen, you know I hate goodbyes." Bryan rolled his eyes as she stuck her tongue out at him at his walkway.
As Carmen turned the knob to her house, she saw Joan pacing about anxiously. Joan shot her a look when she came through the door and honestly, Carmen had no idea what was happening.
