The Interview

Annabeth POV

"Good morning, Miss Chase," the café owner, Demeter greeted.

"Hello."

"What would you like for lunch today?"

"I'll take the Caesar salad please." 

Demeter smiled. "Congratulations on your song. It's blowing up."

I forced a smile. "Thank you."

There are some things that other people don't know about me. Like why I broke up with Percy.

It wasn't his fault like I said it was. 

He wasn't toxic or violent either. 

Those were just the lies I were forced to tell. 

But I needed to. 

Everyone has secrets. 

"Here you go, Annabeth," Demeter said, handing me the plate. 

"Thank you." 

I was talking to my record about the songs that I was going to record later tonight, when I heard a commotion outside. 

It was loud enough for all the heads to turn. 

"Can you guys back off?" a voice yelled. "Give the guy a break!"

It was Luke. 

People outside were throwing food at Percy which he was trying to dodge. Grover and Jason surrounded his sides holding umbrellas to stop the vegetables and fruits from touching him. 

"If you're going to break her heart, I'm going to break your bones!" a person shouted. 

I saw Percy try not to flinch. He kept walking into the direction of the café. 

"I'm gonna kill you!" another one yelled. 

This time, Percy flinched. 

I felt bad for him. But I sat there helplessly. 

There was nothing I could do. 

It isn't that easy. You'll find out soon. 

Finally, Percy reached the café. Grover opened the door for him and I saw Percy scowl. "I can open the door myself, thank you very much."

Grover rolled his eyes and ignored him. 

Percy walked up to the counter and rested his elbows on the counter, his back towards me. "Hello, Demeter."

"Percy Jackson," she greeted. "How can I help?"

"My usual Caramel Macchiato, please."

"Of course."

She turned to Grover and Jason for their order and went into the kitchen. 

"Hi, Percy," a girl giggled. 

"Hey," he said, flashing his signature smile.

"Can you go out with me?" another girl asked. "I heard you were single now."

Percy shifted uncomfortably. "Uh..."

Luckily, Grover came to the rescue. "No, cause he's dating me."

Percy was in the middle of taking a sip of his drink when he suddenly choked and spit it out. "What the hell, Grover?"
