The Promises

~*~

Percy POV (last percy chapter... i think)

"I'm tired," Annabeth complained as we got into the car.

It was barely seven o'clock yet and I had showed up at Annabeth's house to pick her up for our trip to Montauk Beach.

I told her to be ready before I showed up but when I did, she had just rolled out of bed a couple minutes ago.

We were running late.

I rented out a hotel for us to stay in and I told Annabeth that she didn't need to pack that much because we were only there for a couple days and if she needed anything else, we could buy it.

So imagine my surprise when I walked into her room to find 1) her not ready to go and 2) with three suitcases full of clothes.

What was up with girls and their need to bring multiple suitcases for a three day trip?

I never do that. All I had was one suitcase of my clothes and that was it.

"I want food," Annabeth's voice came.

I turned towards her. "We can get food. What do you want?"

"I don't know."

I sighed.

Another thing about girls was that they would say they were hungry and then not know what they wanted.

Like did they expect me to know? I'm not a telepath.

"Are you okay?" she asked, placing her hand on my forehead as if checking for my temperature.

"I'm fine," I said. "Just tired. Didn't get much sleep last night."

That was a lie.

I'd gotten no sleep last night. As soon as my head hit the pillow, the nightmares came again and I stumbled out of bed, searching for alcohol to fix it.

I was getting better. I was almost three weeks clean now and I hadn't touched the cutter under my bed at all.

I thought about it but I never used it.

Maybe my wish really was coming true.

"Let's get some Starbucks," Annabeth said, pointing at the one on the next exit.

I nodded, turning on my blinker and driving off the highway.

"What do you want to get?"

"Coffee," she sighed wistfully as we got out.

"No Mango Dragonfruit Refresher today?"

She waved me off. "That can be tomorrow. Or later this afternoon. Right now I need caffeine."

I laughed at her, placing both our orders for us.

We drove off as soon as we got it and I smiled at her. "What do you want do to for your birthday tomorrow? Is there anything specific?"

"Anything?"

"Anything," I confirmed.

Her face lit up with a cheeky grin and I raised an eyebrow.

"I wanna bang you," she said and I almost swerved off the road in surprise.

"What the f—?"

Annabeth just laughed. "What? Do you think I'm not capable of that? Do you think I can't do it better than all the other girls?"
