The PE Incident

~*~

Silena POV

"And then I told her that I was just doing science!" Leo exclaimed.

He was explaining to us what happened in Chemistry yesterday and to be honest, I'm not even surprised.

"You should've told her that you were being the scientist she wanted us to be," Jason joked.

"I tried! But she wouldn't listen. I hate science," Leo grumbled.

"Me too," Nico agreed.

"Bro, you hate everything," Frank laughed.

"That's true too," Nico nodded. "Except Will."

Will laughed. "I'm that one ray of sunshine in your dark soul."

"Exactly."

"Hey, look, there's Percy," Piper said. "PERCY, OVER HERE!"

Jason scowled as Percy looked up but ignored us and continued walking into the school with Grover.

Piper frowned and marched over there, talking to Percy before dragging him towards us, Grover following suite.

"Let me go, Pips," Percy said, squirming to get out of Piper's firm grip.

"Hey, Percy," Annabeth said softly. "How are you doing?"

Percy sighed, leaning his head on Grover's shoulders. "I'm fine."

Upon closer look, you could see that he had dark bruises under his eyes, and they were red and puffy like he had been crying.

"Percy," I said gently. "When was the last time you slept?"

Percy looked up at me, confused. "Last night?"

"No," I corrected. "When was the last time you actually slept?"

"Last night," he repeated.

"Like deep sleep," I continued. "Not just like a hour or two. Like real sleep."

"Oh," he said. "Probably a few weeks ago?"

"When was the last time you ate?" I asked instead. "Ate a full meal?"

He looked at Grover before looking back at me. "I don't know," he admitted. "I'm not hungry anymore."

I sighed. "Percy, you have to eat no matter what you're going through."

"You," he said fiercely, "have no idea what I'm going through so don't tell me what or what not to do."

I recoiled into Charlie's arm, my eyes begging him to do something.

"You know what, Perce?" Charlie said. "Let's go somewhere together after school. Just you and me."

Percy rolled his eyes, straightening. "Fine. Whatever."

"Good," Charlie said. "See you then."

Percy walked away absentmindedly, signaling the end of that conversation and Grover looked at us.

"Grover," Annabeth said quietly, her arms slung around Luke again. "Did you do it?"

"Do what?" He stared at us in confusion and then suddenly understood. "Oh. That. No, I wasn't there. I told you; I was in Miami with my grandparents. I don't know who would have done it."

Annabeth stared at him for a few seconds before deciding that he was telling the truth.

"Then who did it?" Charlie asked.
