The Song

~*~

Percy POV

"And now, the guest we've all been waiting for. Let's drive on over to the stage, please welcome, 'Drivers License' singer, Annabeth Chase!"

I watched as she walked onto the stage.

"Hello, everyone! Thank you for joining me tonight!" she said in a sweet tone. "Please sing along if you know the lyrics."

My stomach churned at the sound of her sweet voice.

I got my driver's license last week
Just like we always talked about
'Cause you were so excited for me
To finally drive up to your house
But today I drove through the suburbs
Crying 'cause you weren't around

"Bro, you gotta admit, she has an amazing voice," Grover, my best friend and manager said.

I ignored him.

And you're probably with that blonde girl
Who always made me doubt
She's so much older than me
She's everything I'm insecure about
Yeah, today I drove through the suburbs
'Cause how could I ever love someone else?

"She's got to be kidding me," I muttered. "Calypso and I are just friends. We talk because we're friends. What part of that does she not understand?"

Grover shrugged. "I don't know, man, but she has it out for you."

"And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no ONEEEEEE," Grover sang in an off tune voice.

"Shut up, bro," I snapped. "I don't need another Miss Annabeth Chase."

Annabeth and I were once the most famous couple in New York.

But she broke up with me. And now she was blaming me for it.

'Cause you said forever now I drive alone past your street

"Gods," I muttered. "She always has to make things so dramatic, doesn't she?"

And all my friends are tired
Of hearing how much I miss you but
I kinda feel sorry for them
'Cause they'll never know you the way that I do

"I bet her friends are tired," I snapped sarcastically. "Of hearing how much she misses me. Oh so now she misses me? She literally broke up with me!"

"Chill out, man," Grover said calmly. "Juniper did tell me that Annabeth had been talking about you to them."

"Pfft," I scoffed. "Wow. All she ever does is lie and lie, doesn't she?"

Red lights
Stop signs
I still see your face
In the white cars
Front yards
Can't drive past the places
We used to
Go to
Cause you know I still love you, babe

"Does she still love me, though?" I asked. "She broke up with me and now she's accusing me for breaking up with her."

Grover sighed. "Why don't you talk to her?"

"I tried," I admitted. "I texted and called her but she never responded to me."

Cause you said forever now I drive alone past your street.
Yeah, you said forever now I drive alone past your street

The crowd whooped and cheered and I suddenly felt sick to my stomach.

I doubled over, clutching my stomach, trying not to puke.
