Heisenberg breathed out. Tendrils of smoke lifted into the air and rode the breeze. Y/n held out her hand. Snowflakes landed on her palm and melted under the warmth of her skin. Sun rays lit up the blanket of snow, painting the ground in a golden glow. Heisenberg's territory already had a beautiful view of the forest, but the snowy terrain looked breathtaking from where they sat on the factory's roof.

Y/n ripped the final piece of stale bread in half and tossed it to the ground. A lone crow hopped through the snow. It dug around with its beak before flying away with the small chunk of food. The growing Lycan population had scared off everything. She was happy to see other, more normal, animals still lingering around the factory this time of year.

Y/n looked over at Heisenberg next to her. Seeing him without his coat made her feel guilty. "Are you sure you're not cold?"

"Hardly feel it," Heisenberg replied. She tucked her hands back into the trench coat. He reached out and brushed freshly fallen snow out of her hair. He pulled off his hat and placed it on her head. Heisenberg cocked his head to the side. Although she couldn't see his gaze, she felt him eyeing her up and down. He gave her an impish grin. "All that looks good on you, mein Schatzi."

Y/n had no idea what this new nickname meant. Whenever she asked, he would simply flash a smirk and chuckle. She assumed it was either something good or incredibly embarrassing. It didn't matter much to her. She liked it. Hearing him call her that name made her feel fuzzy inside. Suddenly, the frigid winter air felt warm. She played with the trench coat's belt. "Thank you."

Heisenberg stretched out his arm. Without meeting him to say a word, she knew what he wanted. Y/n took her place, nuzzling up against him. He held her close to his chest, running his hand up and down her arm.

The tranquility was a pleasant pause from the doom and gloom of the factory. In a way, it felt like a fairytale. The beautiful scenery and cuddling up to Heisenberg on a chilly day, it was all perfect.

"From what I hear, Miranda is going to leave tomorrow." Y/n could hardly believe it. The day Miranda announced her plan to kidnap the baby felt like just the other day.

Heisenberg flicked his cigar. The fallen ash below stained the snow grey. "A whole three days without her breathing down my neck. I hardly know what I'm going to do with my time."

Y/n's gaze dropped to the junkyard below. The snow falling on her shoulders felt heavy as she gathered her thoughts. "Karl."

Heisenberg rested his fingertips along her cheek. He led her gaze back to him. "Yes?"

"Let's leave. Please." Tears welled in her eyes, on the cusp of falling.

Heisenberg pulled off his glasses and looked into her eyes with so much gravity that she could have sworn time had come to a halt. He wiped away a tear from her cheek with his thumb. Solemnity coated his voice. "We can't do that."

Y/n felt like she had just been punched in the gut. They had the perfect opportunity to finally grant Heisenberg his freedom, and he wasn't going for it. She took his hand and held onto it. "What do you mean?"

"Where would we go?" Heisenberg asked.

Y/n didn't have to think about her reply. Over the past months, she had been giving it so much thought. Wondering where they'd go after Miranda was dead and gone crossed her mind more times than she cared to admit. "Come back with me to America. We can-"

Heisenberg cut her off. He shook his head. "We can't do that."

Y/n's tone grew louder and sharper with the more desperation she felt. "We can though. Once Miranda's gone, we can just leave. Three days is plenty of time."
