"Are you fucking deaf, girl?" Y/n rushed outside, hearing the commotion. She stopped and stood in front of the factory and scanned the scrapyard. Her eyes honed in on the front gate.

Heisenberg had his back facing her. He propped his hammer against the fence. As she approached, she saw a young woman standing on the other side of the front gate. Y/n stopped dead in her tracks. A visitor? Since when did Karl ever get visitors?

Heisenberg let out another outburst, bringing Y/n's attention back to the gate. The closer she got, the more she could see the woman in better detail. She wore a dress similar to the other women in the village. Her dark brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. Stray locks framed her soft face. Her eyes appeared panicked and her brows drew together. She gripped onto the gate's bars, and her knuckles whitened. Looking up at Heisenberg, her trembling lips moved as she whispered to him.

As far as Y/n could hear, from the distance she stood at, he didn't reply to the woman. If he did, it wasn't in another fit of anger. Y/n stopped behind Heisenberg. She leaned over his arm and gave her a once-over. The dried leaves under her feet crunched as she moved to get a better view of the woman.

Her eyes darted over towards Y/n, and she stopped talking. He followed her gaze. Heisenberg glanced over his shoulder at her. He picked up his massive hammer and pointed out towards the castle in the distance. Once again, he turned towards the young woman and raised his voice, his rage returning in full force. "I said I'm not interested. Why the fuck are you still here?"

Hearing his outburst made Y/n jump. By the time she had made the few small steps needed to reach Heisenberg's side, the woman had already hurried away. She watched her disappear into the horizon before looking at him. "What was all that about?"

"Don't worry about it." Heisenberg growled under his breath. His forehead creased, and his lips drew back in a snarl.

"Did you have to yell at her? She looked horrified," Y/n said; "was she asking to come in and hide from the lycans?"

"I said don't fucking worry about it," he snapped. Y/n's lips parted to speak, and her mouth shut. It had been a long while since she had been on the receiving end of one of his outbursts. She needed a moment to process it.

Heisenberg took a long, drawn out exhale. The front gate swung open, the hinges groaning. A hand pressed between her shoulder blades and nudged her forward before resting on the small of her back.

"Sorry." He spoke in a more subdued tone, almost whispering the apology. "Let's go."

The calm atmosphere from the beginning of their day had disappeared altogether. An intense cloud of vexation hung over them. Heisenberg didn't look at or speak to Y/n. Once he removed his hand from her back, he kept a steady pace, walking ahead of her. Her eyes drifted from the ground to his hammer. He had it slung over his shoulder. It glistened in the sunlight. His short temper aside, she wondered what that woman had said to make his mood plummet so suddenly.

In the same spot as every month, a little cart stood off to the side of the road. Various wares, different from previous visits, were displayed in front. The doors hung open. In the entrance, the Duke sat. His rotund figure blocking the view inside his caravan. He hung his head down, preoccupied with an object in his grips. As the two came closer, Y/n saw a cloth in one hand, and a golden-colored pocket watch in the other. The Duke looked up from polishing the timepiece. His eye lit up and his mouth curved into a friendly smile.

Heisenberg placed down the hammer. The ground caved in under the immense weight.

"Ah, Lord Heisenberg, punctual as always." The Duke lowered his head in a polite bow. He shifted his attention to her. "And of course, it's always a pleasure to see the ever lovely Lady Y/n with you."
