As I pulled my sleek blonde hair back into a ponytail, and put on my employee T-shirt my aunt Caroline cake some from the kitchen.
"Cordelia!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. I made my way downstairs into our small kitchen, in her hand she had our mail.
"Yes?" I replied questioning her previous scream.
"There's a letter in here with your name on it, I called and cancelled your shift today, so you can go down to the beach or something." Said aunt Caroline.
"Oh, thanks." I said. She set the mail down in the kitchen table and I grabbed the letter with my name on it. It read
"To Cordelia, From Aunt Alana.
Cordelia, I believe that you would like to see me as you haven't in quite some time, I Have some things that I need to tell you regarding your mother and I'm sure that you would love to hear them, with great affection, your Aunt Alana.
I grabbed the phone and called her number that was in the speed dial list.
"Hi This is Cordelia, Cordelia Hastings." I said innocently into the phone, every time I would call a relative I haven't talked to in a while I always felt the need to be extremely nice.
"Yes Cordelia, this is your Aunt Alana, Ive assumed you got my letter in the mail." She said.
"Oh yes, I got it today, well a few minutes ago actually." I said slightly embarrassed.
"Well, as you know I moved to Oahu and I was wondering if you wanted to stay here for the summer?" She said. I felt as if my prayers had been answered, finally a good opportunity, as far as the summer goes that will make my summer better.
"If course I would love to!, oh but I don't have a plane ticket or anything."
I said trying to hold back tears, I had a great opportunity and then something simple took it away with the bash of an eye.
"Sweetheart Cordelia, I could easily get you a ticket!, why would you want to come down next week by chance?" She asked.
"Of Course!, I would love to." I replied with joviality.
"Well I'll talk to you tomorrow about everything you'll need." She said, "but I'll definitely get you a ticket by Thursday." She said.
The other end of the line went blank and I fell onto our plaid printed recliner. I immediately went to pack my suitcase and I realized, Aunt Alana, she would tell me all about mom, she would tell me her hobbies, I had my option to tell me about mom right there and nothing was going to get in the way.
