Pt. 02
Days, weeks and years passed but I was still here, locked by the past. Everything have changed except this place where we burried our vows. Where we start our life.
"Hmm.... This place haven't change a bit." It was still the same. I wonder continuing inside my thoughts.
Drawing towards the bench where I used to sit long time ago, I held my breath before letting myself perched down.Everything had stayed the same, the three beside the bench, the street lamp, the quite place. Every single thing stayed the same.
As I filled my eyes with the approaching dusk, all that happened start coming back. From the time I held her, to the time we vowed, all of those came back rushing.
I occasionally dropped my head and was surprised to the small thing sitting beside me. I extend my arms for me to have it and soon examined it.
Soft laughter escaped from me. It was the same bracelet I had given to her that dawn.
"Excuse me, sir?" I was halt for a moment before having a chance to look at my back. It was a young looking man in his early age.
He was looking at me directly and was pointing on something. When I track where was it, it was no other than the bracelet on my hand.
"Oh, I am sorry." I apologize and hand him the thing that reminded of her.
A voice of a woman was heard coming, as she caught our attention the two of us looked back and saw her.
She was wearing a blue coat with stripes, her hair was bunned. She continued to approach us until she arrived, "I told you I can get it myself." She said as soon as she stepped her feet.
"I am more capable, than you are." Said by him. She raised her hand and was about to hit him when she accidentally met my gaze.
She was still the prettiest after all these years.
She parted her lips but soon enclosed it. She faced this kid on my side but before she could speak, this kid already butt in.
"You knew each other mom?" He asked curiously.
"Uhm, go back and wait for me." She commanded instead, avoiding his question.
"But mom...!"
"I said go back cheol."
"Hmmmp...!"
And she was still the bossy one.
"Apologize me for his attitude. He is just, always like that." She said and force a smile.
"Nah, it's fine." I retorted, smiling at her.
She blew a deep breath before she took the seat beside me.
"So. . . How was things?" She started after a long silence.
"Still the same." I replied back and another series of silence happen again.
"I'm going, then. It is nice to see you." I felt her standing but before she could get away, I finally spoke.
"Why do you still went here?" I lifted my head to see her. She was silent unable to utter a word. So then I took that a chance to speak again, "That bracelet. . . . . Why do you still have it?"
Instead of answering, she perched down again and watch the sitting sun.
"That kid," She started avoiding all my questions. "He was a miracle for me. For both of us rather. " And she force a laugh.
I was stunned for a moment, unable to utter a single word. Still clueless of what she have said.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought that back."
"W-what do you mean, miracle?" I finally manage to say. She then tilt her head at me and drew a smile, "Is h-he?""Hmmm....." She nodded.
It feels like my body shivered at her confirmation. Making me statued at my seat.
"I found out about him after the annulment. It was too late so I decided to keep him away from you." She confessed.
"B-but why? Y-you should have told me about him----"
"And why? It will not change a thing Seungcheol." It was as if all the words that I wanted to say vanish in a second making me sealed my mouth.
"You are already married and are now having a two beautiful daughters, do you want me to ruin that just for a single baby that I don't have a clue if he can manage to live?" Her voice cracked."He barely survive and I cannot afford to give you a false hope. I cannot afford to ruin your dream for the second time."
"His name is Seungcheol, I named him after you."
"He grew up well and even got most of his characters from you."
"I often picture out the two of you clinging to each other and when I saw you with him a while ago, I pretended that I have no idea to watch you longer."
"The two of you looked identically. He was carved from you."
"But he got his smiles from you."
She was halted from speaking and faced me. Seems my hand have its own mind to reach her.
I really missed her after all.
"I understand. You don't have to explain it." I stuttered.
The inside of me wanted to scream and demand things but the result were none of those. At last I couldn't pull myself from saying these unsaid thoughts.
'Cring Cring Cring'
I came back to reality when I heard a phone ringing. Pulling myself away from her, as I waited for her to finish the call.
Not soon enough, she tapped my back. "I have to go, it was nice to see you here." She was smiling again with those eyes.
The ray of sunset shone at her side view reflecting through her brownish eyes. How I missed this sight of her.
Slowly she turn her back at me and walk away, just like how everything turn to be.
