It's night at the tower and Rory, the male assassin, is sleep, and so is the rest of the Avenger. Except Steve and Bucky. Steve couldn't sleep because he was worried that the Widower would end up hurting Natasha. He knows Natasha is strong but also knows that she was struggling when fighting Widower and he looked like he wasn't hardly trying.

Steve's train of thought got interrupted as he heard a soft knock on his door. He quickly got out of bed and opened the door to reveal Bucky. Bucky was still in boxers and an oversized shirt with an star. "Hey Steve." Bucky said trying to hide the nervousness boiling over him. Steve knew something was wrong though.

"Hey." He said gently and moved to the side so Bucky could come in. "Is everything okay?" Steve asked the soldier who was fiddling with his hands. "Yeah." Bucky said and smiled despite his voice cracked. Steve just looked at Bucky obviously not buying it. Bucky sighed and whispered "No..."

Steve sat on his bed and patted on the spot in front of  him. Bucky made his way over and sat down in front of Steve. "What's wrong pal?" Steve asked sending one of his best smiles. "Can I tell you something?" Bucky asked as Steve nodded. "Well when I saw Widowers memories and how Hydra treated him it reminded me of Pierce." Bucky said looking up at Steve. "He can't hurt you. He's dead and he ain't coming back because if he does I'll kill him myself. I wouldn't let anyone hurt you." Steve assured.

"I told you about the mind control and about the chair and loss of memory but I didn't tell the other thing." Bucky said as Steve looked at Bucky wanting him to continue. "I didn't finish one of my missions so an agent had to finish it for me. I was supposed to kill a target but missed my target so an agent had grabbed the gun and shot him for me. The agent told Pierce and he...he.." Bucky said trying to finish the sentence but a lump in his throat and couple tears that fell from his eyes gave it away. "It's okay. You don't have-" Steve said but got cut off by Bucky.

"No I have to tell you or else I won't ever tell you." Bucky said. Steve just nodded understandingly.

"I missed my shot and the agent had to finish the mission. The agent had told Pierce and Pierce ordered all the guards and agents to leave the room. They obeyed and left me in there with him. He grabbed an electric stun baton and kept shocking me. I knew that missing that target meant a punishment but knew he did it for something else but I don't know what. He left me unable to move and then he touched me in places I didn't want to be touched. He took what I thought I had control of. Rumlow came in after a couple hours and helped me get up and cleaned me up. I could tell he felt bad for me but didn't want to show it that day. Pierce didn't wipe my memory. He wanted me to remember. When we saw his memories, the memory resurfaced." Bucky said.

Steve was in tears. He felt so bad for Bucky. One thing he felt for sure was he would never let Hydra touch him or any evil horrible organization. "I wouldn't ever touch you without consent or let anyone else. I'm glad that bastard was killed." Steve said trying to keep calm. "I know but I should've told you earlier or done someth-" Bucky said but got cut off by Steve.

Steve grabbed Bucky's face and forced him to to look him in the eyes. "James Buchanan Barnes, my best friend, my pal, told me when you thought it was right and at your own pace. If you feel like you shouldn't tell me something like that, then you don't have to. I would never force you to tell me something like this. And if you shocked so bad were you couldn't have done something then that's okay. Pierce is a twisted, nasty,  and psychotic person for doing that to you. James Buchanan Barnes, it wasn't your fault." Steve finished.

By the time he finished Bucky was crying and holding back sobs and so was Steve. "I want you to say." Steve said after wiping his tears that kept coming back. "What?" Bucky asked. "I want you to say it wasn't your fault." Steve said. "It wasn't my fault..." Bucky said slowly. "Mean it." Steve said. "It wasn't my fault." Bucky said this time and this time there was a small glimmer of hope in his eyes. "Thank you." Bucky said sniffling. "No thank you for trusting me enough to tell me." Steve finished.

Steve got up and went to the bathroom and came back with some tissue. Bucky went to grab it and Steve pulled it back gently. Steve wiped Bucky's tears away and laid down beside Bucky. Bucky leaned back beside him. They both were reminded of the times they had to cuddle up during the winter of WW2 and both of them scooted closer for warmth. "Goodnight Bucky." Steve said closing his eyes. "Goodnight Stevie." Steve hadn't heard the nickname for some time now and it made him smile.
