All Felicia could see was the flames rising around, the orange glow lite up the usual darkness of her house. She wouldn't call this place a home normally since her mother didn't pay attention to her, she spent her days leaving her alone while she went out partying. However she was never allowed to cry about it, since in her family crying was a sign of weakness.

Now she didn't have any family, since the bodies of her mother was not far away from her. And she had no idea who her father was, her mother had said he was a selfish man who left her for another woman. She should have cried at the sight but she was to frozen in fear at the moment. The flames were getting higher and she covered her mouth so that no smoke entered her lungs. She figured this was the end and knelt down hoping to fall asleep so that she wouldn't feel any pain. But just then she heard the sound of wood cracking, at first she thought it was the ceiling collapsing but she quickly realized it was the door.

"Please help me," she said before coughing. The door finally flew open and a tall man wearing a uniform and cowboy hat came in.
"Walker we were specifically told not to come in, it's too dangerous!" Another man said pulling on Walker. Felicia wasn't sure why but she trusted this strange man, and started to make her way towards him.
"I know I saw a kid in here and I'm not leaving her here to die!" Walker responded. The ranger spotted the ten year old brunnete and walked quickly but carefully to her. "Its okay I'm gonna get you out of here." He said to her, she coughed again before jumping into his arms without a second thought.

They felt safe and Felicia wished she could stay in them forever. Walker carried the young girl outside and managed to get himself, James and Felicia away before the house blew up.
"I told you going in was dangerous," James said. "That building wasn't stable..." He was cut off when he noticed that Felicia had refused to let go of Walker. She was clinging to him like she was afraid of letting go. "Walker we need to get her to a hospital." the ranger said checking her for any injuries.

"No!" She exclaimed in fear not wanting to be touched. This man was a stranger so she began to panic and tried to run away, and she had seen enough men trying to touch her without permission.
"Hey it's okay we are here to help," Walker said to her. "We are Texas rangers," he explained. She looked at him with curiosity and tried to figure out what to say. "I'm Cordell Walker and that's my partner James, who are you?"
"Fe...Felicia..." She stammered. "I...don't...know...my last name."
"Its alright sweetie," James said in a comforting voice. He was a father himself so he knew that she was terrified. "Like he said we can help you."

Moments later Felicia was driven to a nearby hospital where the doctors did a ton of tests on her. Medically she was completely healthy but they weren't sure about mentally.
"She is definitely showing symptoms of ptsd and its likely from the fire," a nurse explained. "We also asked her a few questions and noticed that she was shaking on talking."
"Is anything we can do?" Walker asked.
"For the time being I'll keep her to monitor her and see if I can find someone to take care of her," the nurse responded. "Her birth records say that her mother was her only living relative and she doesn't have a father," she continued. "Hopefully once she recovers foster care will find a good home for her."

Felicia was in the other room resting as the doctor asked her if she remembered what happened. The young girl nodded and was hoping the doctors could finally tell her, where she came from. But they didn't and seemed to be more concerned with getting her into foster care. That made feel unwanted and she wanted people to want her, not push her away like she was a problem.
"Thank you," Walker said. "I'll probably check in a few times on her, if that's alright."
"Ranger Walker you have enough on your hands with your young kids," the nurse said. "She'll be fine you just have to have faith." Walker could agree with that and left the hospital with his partner.

Felicia watched him go and felt saddened, her dark eyes filled up with tears as she realized her new friend was leaving. The doctor realized her state and asked what was wrong.
"Walker," she said simply. "I want him to stay."
"Don't worry kid, I'm sure you'll see him again," the doctor answered. "He's quite well known for saving the day."
"So he's a superhero?" Felicia asked.
"From a certain point of view." The doctor answered.
