chapter twenty-eight, stage two.
[ season six, episode thirteen and fourteen ]
"GRAB HIM," RICK SNARLS. Daryl and Glenn pull the man up, Odessa presses her gun to the man's temple. "You can see we have one of yours. We'll trade. If either of them are hurt, the girl with the gun to this asshole's head won't hesitate to kill him."
"I'm listening." The lady says.
"First I want to talk to Maggie and Carol, make sure they're alright." Rick's head tilts.
"Rick, it's Carol. I'm— I'm fine, but—" Carol's voice is interrupted. Then they hear Maggie, "Rick, it's Maggie. We're both okay. We'll figure thi—" Maggie is cut off too. "You have your proof. Let's talk."
"This is the deal right here. Let 'em go, you can have your guy back and live." Rick negotiates.
"Two for one, that's not much of a trade." The woman replies.
After several minutes, Rick says, "look, I know you're talking it over. It's a fair trade. Just come out, we do this, we all walk away. Do we have a deal?"
"I'll get back to you." She says.
Hours later, they find where they have been holding Maggie and Carol thanks to Daryl's tracking skills.
They pull a door open. Glenn gasps when he's met by a gun pointed at his face. But it's his wife.
"Maggie." Glenn whispers. He pulls her into his arms.
"You okay? We got your trail? You start a fire?" Daryl rushes to Carol "Hey, you good?"
"No." She shakes her head.
"Come here." Daryl brings her into his arms.
"They're dead. They're all dead. The ones who took us. They're dead." Maggie pulls away from Glenn. She has tears in her eyes.
"Your friends are dead. No one's coming for ya. So you might as well talk." Rick turns to the man
"Let 'em burn." Daryl hisses.
"I'm gonna ask you one last time... how'd you get the bike?" Rick asks.
"We found it." He responds.
"Like hell you did." Daryl harshly says.
"We found it." He responds.
"Was Negan in the building last night or was he here?" Rick asks.
"Both. I'm Negan, shithead. There's a whole world of fun that we can talk about, so let's have a chat." The man says.
Cori and Jesus have both departed. They're not here to tell them if this is the real Negan or not. But Rick gives the man no time to say anything else.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this." Rick raises his arm. He fires into the man's head. Odessa jumps. Her eyes go wide. Theo's eyes trail the man's body as he thumps against the ground.
