Choose Me or Lose Me

Kabanata 14

Since Damian is here, he was the one who talked to the Doctor. It took us three more hours before Nathan woke up. He wasn't supposed to be discharged but Damian talked it out.

"Yeah, we will." He said to the doctor who advised him to just transfer Nathan in another hospital for better safety.

I was so guilty. Pagkagaling nya sa school ay dumiretso agad sya dito para sa akin. Nag convoy nalang kami dahil may kotse ako. Ayla and Joseph is on my car while Nathan is on his. He's actually taking care of him.

"Kuya Damian is a good guy, Ate." I heard Joseph said that made me smile. It lessened my worries.

"He is," I replied and gave him a small smile.

"Paano na ang bahay, Ate?" Ayla asked. She's sitting on the passenger seat. I glance at Joseph but he is already asleep.

"How did you know that?" I asked.

She chuckled," I took your responsibility as an oldest child, of course I know it."

Natahimik ako.

Kasi tama sya.

"Are you going to buy it again or just let it?"

"Makukulong si Mom," I said while looking on the road.

She nodded, "She deserves it."

"Ayla. Stop talking like that." I said that made her chuckled again. Umiiyak na naman sya.

"Why? Hindi mo kasi alam yung mga nangyari. You're always a good girl, Ate. That's why they just let you do whatever you want. Because you're always on their side no matter what." She said while sobbing.

"That's not true."

"Hindi ako tanga, Ate. We told you what happened. That's not even the whole story but I never saw you mad! Hindi ka man lang nagalit sa kanila!" She shouted that made Joseph wake up.

"Bakit po kayo sumisigaw?" He innocently asked that made us silent. Hindi ako makatingin kay Ayla kasi tama naman sya.

I was mad. I am mad. But im not doing anything to them. They're still my parents. What's wrong with that? They raised us.

We were silent the whole ride. Nauna si Damian na makarating sa condo ko. I saw him waiting outside his car while carrying Nathan. The little boy is sleeping on his shoulders.

"Can I sleep here? I have to monitor him. If this got worse, we'll immediately bring him to the hospital." He said that made me nodded.

"Nathan can sleep on my room. I still have another bedroom, you two can sleep there." I said and Ayla nodded. Tahimik silang pumasok dalawa.

"Thank you," I turned to Damian.

He gave me a weak smile.

"This is nothing," he said before following the two.

Sumunod na din ako pagkatapos. We settled on my condo and because of tiredness, we all fell asleep.

Nathan is sleeping between me and Damian.

Nagising ako nang may marinig na pagkahulog. I saw Damian carrying Nathan while looking for something.

"What happened?" Nagaalalang tanong ko kaagad. Mabilis akong tumayo at lumapit sa kanila. Damian glance at me but continued on finding something.

"Where's my keys?" He asked while opening every drawer that made my brows furrowed.

"What's happening, Damian?" I demanded.

"We'll talk later." He told me before he got out. May kinuha sya sa drawer sa living room bago dire diretsong umalis.

Of course, because of panic. I immediately readied myself and followed them. The nurses told me that Nathan was transferred to the private room.
