---

it was a Friday night and you were off to find your girlfriend who was late, meeting you at the car, by 20 minutes

you found her on the 5th floor of the hospital sitting at the nurse's station, she looked bored to death

"hey what are you doing? you got off 30 minutes ago" you approached her putting your bag down in front of her

"no you got off 30 minutes ago. I've got to work night shift" she mouthed

"god whats up your ass" you matched her tone

"you, right now. why aren't you at home.. please don't wait up for me" she sighed tapping her pen annoyingly at you

"you know what.. I'd think id like to stay.. who's numbers are we monitoring" you sat on her lap ignoring the empty chair next to her

"that carrot over there" she pointed in a dark room across the hall

"could you sit somewhere else?" she tapped your hip

her voice sounded sweeter now and less annoyed

as the night progressed you eventually moved off your now asleep wife and took over monitoring her numbers

she woke up an hour later to you doodling mindlessly on her hand

"What are you- are you drawing on me?!" she jerked her hand away from you but quickly started the giggle when she saw what you drew on her

y/n + Meredith

"your such a dork" she smiled at you and you took the opportunity to steal a kiss from her

after a minute or two she got up and approached the brain-dead elderly woman's room.

you watched from your seat

"Are you coming or what? if you're not going to leave you can at least keep me company while I change a bed pan" she joked and you sprang up to follow after her

you wtahced her in the I'm light of the room as she made putting on surgical gloves look elegant.

of course, you had to ruin the moment by blowing up a family of ballon gloves and laying them on the patient's bedside table claiming it would "keep her company"

"No more ballon gloves" sh popped one you were actively blowing up with her pen when you continued long after the bedpan was changed

you pouted and she squshed your cheeks cooing at you as if you were a toddler

you took it the extra mile by flopping off your chair and laying by her feet on the floor

"The floor is dirty. Don't lay on it." she scolded

you grunted and moved to may on your stomach resting your head on the top of her shoe

Meredith shook her head and amusement and ignored you seeing as she had to chart her numbers of the hour

when 10 minutes had gone by she gave her foot a little tap, she knew how committed you go to things but this was a little extreme.

you didn't move so again she tapped her foot, a little harder this time.

it wasn't till you let out a small snore that she realized you were asleep.

"oh y/n" she chuckled

see moved to the floor with you being mindful of your head

sh tried to move you but she didn't want to risk waking you up

she was now sitting on the floor, her back against the wall, and your head now in her lap

she ran her fingers threw your hair and were asleep alongside you.
