The Ministry

Returning back to the Ministry had been a pleasant experience for Copia, he had been welcomed home by Sister with open arms. She had ordered him his favourite meal and brought him a new tricycle, he was happy to be back home. But all of that soon changed, he hadn't been expecting Papa Nihil to be coming to the family dinner Sister had arranged. He didn't mind Mr Saltarian being there since he was here on clergy business, but the old guy had annoyed him enough on the European tour. Endless chaos and arguments on the tour bus, the rehearsals sometimes didn't go to plan. The ghouls hadn't made it easy neither, they had been constantly pranking each other and complaining about the food. Copia had tried his best to get along with Papa Nihil, he even took him to a museum in Madrid. The museum visit had been going smoothly until Copia leaned on a statue and accidentally damaged it, he soon had to hurry Papa out of the museum when a security guard came to investigate.

The family dinner had been going well until Sister had accidentally kicked a football at Copia's head, the old guy had told him that he would catch the football before the event had even taken place. But Papa had gone back on his word, he just laughed at him instead and yelled " GOAL!". Mr Saltarian had laughed too, he even supported Papa's mischievous behaviour at the dinner table. They spoke about the plans for Copia's future has Papa Emeritus IV, but they had decided that he would have to take the route of Panasonic television. Copia was down for television, he knew he could sing and boogie, but Papa Nihil mocked him over his acting skills. It had been decided that he would make an audition tape, he planned to blow them away with his creativity and amazing acting skills.

Leaving the dinner table Copia headed down the hallway towards his bedroom, he had a video camera somewhere in his room if he remembered correctly. It was old fashioned and outdated, but it still worked when he had been playing with it a few months back in the chapel. Turning left into another hallway he thought about what he wanted to do in his audition tape, he needed to do something that would impress Mr Saltarian and Sister. He couldn't care less about what Papa Nihil's thoughts would be about it, but secretly he wanted to impress him too. Turning into another hallway he felt something beneath his foot, his ankle gave way and he yelled. The sensation of falling immediately washed over him, his arms flailing at his sides he hit the floor with an almighty thud. He didn't even have time to try and save himself, it had been unexpected. His gaze lingered on the ceiling above him, he tried to move but his body wouldn't allow it just yet.

" Ouch..." He said.

Copia remained still in the middle of the hallway, his arms outstretched at his sides he tried to figure out what had just happened to him. His attention was soon caught by an orange rolling passed him, he had no idea where the rogue fruit had come from since the kitchen wasn't anywhere near this hallway. He soon realised that he had slipped on the orange, his back would be feeling his little mishap in the morning. He deeply sighed to himself before he sat up straight, his back creaked and crunched while he rested his hands at his sides. He couldn't see anyone around, he was thankful no one had seen him fall. He was about to get to his feet when a cold breeze wafted passed him, the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. He looked both ways down the hallway, he couldn't see anything unusual.

The kids of the Ministry weren't around which relieved him, they scared him most days with their creepy antics and games. They had jump scared him in the chapel a few days ago, he had no idea why they disliked him. The kids always accompanied Papa Nihil around the Ministry, they were still serving him in death like they once did when he was alive. His thoughts were interrupted by a tugging sensation on his foot, he squinted his eyes and tilted his head to one side when he saw the material of his tracksuit pants waving around his ankle. He leaned in closer to investigate, but what happened next scared him half to death. He felt something unseen grab him around his right ankle before he was dragged along the hallway on his backside, he tumbled backwards and held his hands out at his sides. He immediately knew who the unseen presence was, the scent of sulfur soon filled his nostrils. He knew that scent very well, it was Papa Nihil.
