Chapter 5
Mia<3Walking into the house, Mia sets her bag down and releases a breath of fresh air as she smells the fresh scent of cleaning products.
The floors shine making her know that her mom mobbed the floors. Taking her shoes off and setting them at the door, she walks until she's in the kitchen.
Her mom, grandma, grandpa, brother, and two cousins were situated around the counter, all conversing.
Her cousin–Calvin–was the first to notice her seeing as he was the only one not talking. He nods his head her way before motioning her to go over to them.
Mia nods as she grabs a drink out the fridge then stands beside him. "What are they talking about?" She whispers in his ear as she stands on her tip toes.
"I don't know. They started with food then it led to family reunions." He shrugs as he sips from his sprite bottle.
"Huh." Mia hums, nods, then slaps his back. "Go for a walk with me." She tells him and he nods, telling her in a minute so that way he can eat his pizza that's in the oven.
With that Mia stalks up the stairs, backpack in hand as she pushes open her room door then closes it back.
She goes to her closet and changes her clothes to something more walk comfortable before sitting at her desk and charging her phone.
She stays like that for about fifteen minutes until she hears a knock on her door then it being pushed open when she says come in.
"Let's go."
Standing up and out the chair, she begins following him out the house and down the street.
A comfortable silence is between them as they continue to walk.
"How's adult life?" Mia starts the conversation before biting her bottom lip. Her voice trailed off, leaving behind a mystery in the conversation.
Calvin shrugs as he takes in the scenery before him. "Ion know. It's something I guess." He voices before turning and looking at her. "How's senior year goin'?"
She shrugs her shoulders, about to give the same response he gave her. "Ion know. It's something I guess."
They chuckle quietly before a ding sound went off on Mia's phone. She unlocks her device before seeing the message her mom sent her.
________
Ma❤️Ma❤️: Dinner almost done. Ya'll come on and come back.
Mia: Aight🫡
"My momma said come back to the house cause the food almost done." Calvin nodded her way before they started heading back to the house seeing as they a few good distances from the two story house.
{Night Time 8:30 PM}
"Okay so who's going to drive?" Kamari asked Mia and Calvin as they all met in the living room. She was clad in a black glittery thin strapped dress that stopped at mid thigh and some black high heels that wrapped around her ankles.
"Either me or Calvin knowing you're going to be the first one drunk." Mia stated as she applied clear lip gloss and fixed her 13*4 ginger 28' deep curly lace front wig in the mirror attached to the wall.
She got dressed in a lil durk black tee and some black shorts. She had her black Nike socks on and her black/true red Air Jordan 13s.
"I hope you don't get too drunk for real cause I ain't trynna take care of yo sick ass." Calvin mumbled as he rolled his eyes and leaned against the stair railing.
He had on black cargo pants with a biggie notorious tee and his Jordan 4 breds.
"Boy you gone be good." Kamari shrugged her shoulders and waved him off before telling them to come on and walking out the door.
"She gone be shit faced." Mia chuckled before shutting the door behind Calvin and locking it.
"On my momma she is. She gone be annoying as hell too." He rolled his eyes before sucking his teeth in realization.
"Yep." Mia agreed before going to the driver door of her car and getting in, starting it and heading to the party that was on the other side of town.
{10:30 PM}
Standing in the kitchen against the sink, Mia's eyes focused on Kamari as she danced the night away with a dude.
A dude who's hands were way to touchy. Mia didn't do anything except watch because Kamari is older than her, meaning she can make whatever decision she wanted to.
But if something did go wrong, then she would step in and handle it.
Sipping her drink of pink lemonade she found in the fridge, she noticed a tall figure walking her way.
Turning her head, she's meet with the eyes of Megan as she walked towards her with a cup in her hand.
Megan's clad in a pair of camo baggy cargo pants and a black tee. On her feet sit a pair of Knu Skool vans.
Megan's eyes focused on Mia's as she leaned against the sink, looking unbothered as ever.
They kept eye contact as someone tapped Megan's shoulder, trying to gain her attention but they never did as her eyes focused deeply on the pair that caught her attention.
Mia smirked against her cup as she tilted her head slightly and kept strong eye contact. Despite her shyness, she never wavered in maintaining a confident gaze.
Megan bit her bottom lip as she looked Mia up and down. Megan kept up the intense gaze with determination, creating palpable tension that neither of them seemed to want to diffuse.
Megan continued to ignore the person trying to gain her attention as her feet moved on their own accord, not stopping until she was in front of Mia.
"Hi." She spoke first, looking down at the 5'8 female who caught her attention the moment her eyes met hers in class.
"Hello." Mia spoke up a little loudly considering the blasting music coming from the speakers around them.
Megan bit her lip as she looked down at Mia's lips that were coated in lipgloss. "Wanna dance with me?"
Mia shrugged before downing the rest of her drink and throwing her cup away. "Can you dance?"
"That a challenge?" Megan questioned as her brow lifted. Her tongue swiped against her bottom lip, making Mia eye the movement.
"Maybe. Maybe not." Mia shrugged her shoulders before grabbing her hand. "Let's see what chu' got new girl."
And with that, both of them moved away from the kitchen and to the middle of the living room where everybody was.
