There's no time to lose..
The dawn will soon be settled and Arthur has gone away to get the sword.
Merlin remained in the same position,
guarding the outside in case my father shows up.

I started packing lightly with just the important stuff like extra clothes and a Photograph of my mother which i hid beneath a loose brick behind my wall.
My only secret.

Father barely spoke of her since she passed thirteen years ago and I don't remember much about her.
Although, I can see myself in her as I grew up to become the spotting image of her.

Her hair hanged in soft curls and twisted around the blanket holding an infant tightly to her chest.
I didn't noticed if before though,
but she never smiled in those few photos that were taken.
If she ever did, it would almost look like she cried on the inside.

I placed the photo inside my bag carefully and closed the button to the hem.
Before I was leaving,
I looked over the room I've been spending my entire life in.

If I'm not mistaken, we're in middle of June now which means that when the clock strikes twelve it will be my twentieth birthday.

In twenty years I have lived as a prisoner between these walls I came to call my home.
A knot tied inside my chest making breathing seem like a difficult task and I couldn't hold back the painful tears increasing under my eyes.

I could never understand why my father hate me so much.
Everything I did was never good enough for him and still he kept me here for two decades without even recognising all I did to make him happy.
I always blamed myself until someone else came along.

Merlin thought I mattered and confirmed what I've been suspecting and feared for a long time now.

This man, even though he is my own father,
He never acted like it.
Everything he did was wrong and I know that now.

He is a wicked man.

I understood that the day he told me to make Merlin fall in love with me, I had to escape.
He did not care about what I felt and he never does..
Just as long as he gets that stupid sword.

I dried my tears on my sleeve, angry at the world, at my father and myself for being so dense.

Am I going to spend the rest of my life here like my mother and bawl my eyes out every night, hoping he will change? No!!
It's time to rewrite this book, for real.

If not for me, I'd do it for her.

I gave a final wave as I turned my back to my past.
I lifted my foot proudly, knowing it's probably the last time I'm gonna see the room I was born in.

The cool air brushed my cheeks as I made the way over the window sill for the last time ever.

Merlin

"Hello! Are you ready?"
I reached my hand out to help Hope up but she faced away from me.
It was clear that the circumstances must be overwhelming for her.
Leaving your home is never an easy task,
even if the home might be a nightmare to live in.
She doesn't know what will come after this..
And that's not for anyone to decide but her.

"I'm sorry.. I understand that this is a lot to process"
"No, I'm fine. Its just that..
I can't believe how I could just accept it,
you know.
Everything he did is unforgivable and I hope this works"

She turned to me and covered my hand between hers.
"Thank you, my friend"

She smiled at me and I laid my palm on hers.
"No need. This is what I was born to do"
I reassured her.

A sudden russle from the bushes rested in the dark abrupted us and I took a stand in front of her ready to defend.
"Who's there!?"
I called out to a sillouette of what seems like a tall figure approaching us.

Quickly, I reached down and held tightly to my talismans, ready to strike for whoever was lurking.
The tall figure stepped into the light and a familiar man was suddenly standing there with excalibur resting against his broad shoulders.

"My God Merlin, Don't you recognise me?"

I cant believe it..

The flower actually worked!!

"Arthur! You scared us!"

I ran to him to take a closer look at my long lost friend I haven't seen for a very long time.
A touch of jealousy hid inside my head but it didn't matter at this point.
As long as we have the book, there's a chance for all of us to break this curse.

"So let's cut that thread thing and run.
I think I saw your evil dad on the front so we need to hurry!"
He gestured towards the thread and it was time to set the plan in work.

"Okay, Hope.
Sit down on the grass and be absolutely still.
We have to do this now"

She followed my instructions and grabbed my hand, which caught me off guard.

Instantly, she closed her eyes shut and squeezed my hand tightly while Arthur slide the blade at the back of her neck through the golden string.

Nervously, I squeezed her back hoping nothing goes wrong.

Then I heard it.

..A snap.

The thread had turned into particles of glimmering dust spread through the air as it vanished.

I looked at Arthur and back at Hope to see if she got a cut but I saw nothing. She is alright..

"M.. Merlin. It feels weird"

I exchanged glanced with the green little man as our hands remained in the same position.
He looked down on them and quickly let go as his cheeks turned bright pink.
"S..sorry! I was just nervous you'd be cut!"
He stuttered, referring to the hand holding.

"No! That's not what I meant.. I-I'm fine!
It's just.. breathing is suddenly too easy"

I reached up to my neck and for the first time,
I felt so naked.
It's really gone!
Am I dreaming right now?

I try to stand up and grab the book but my body didn't respond.
Suddenly my head started to spin round and around.

"Hope? Hope are you alright? Hope!?"

I could not respond.

Their voices became distant and suddenly darkness fell over us like a thick veil.
