Detective Comet: An Odder's Origin

Chapter One: The Odder

  Never did I think a day like this was going to happen. I was scared, I was paralyzed. All I could do was watch. This wasn't a dream...this was real. I reside in a small village within the east side of the most powerful nation known as Lake Night. This nation is feared because of its power but known for its beautiful lake which happens to be right next to my village. Every night the lake gives off a mystical effect to our woods and even to the people close to the lake. The vegetation within our woods would begin to glow in a variety of colors depending on the plant. What makes our lake have a stronger effect is when the full moon rises. The lake would reflect the moonlight and begin to shine and glimmer, boosting its original effect towards the woods. The woods would then release what I like to call "Glow Orbs". These glow orbs would be released by the woods into the air from the flowers and trees in a variety of colors. Most of us would come out at night for its beautiful view when the full moon rises. Rumors have it that the lake has a hidden ability. When the lake is still and an individual looks down at the lake, the lake will then glow white and that person will be able to witness their past or see their future. No one else will be able to witness what is revealed to another person. The nation calls this hidden ability "The Revealing Truth". The lake is amazing with plenty of secrets just waiting to be unveiled, but what about us? We are Night Wolves. We're not your ordinary wolves who just sit here peacefully like sitting ducks, no. We are wolves with abilities that you couldn't possibly imagine. Each nation has its own category of abilities, Lake Night has celestial abilities. Each creature also has its own weapon summoning, not out of choice, rather you're born with it as well as your ability. As for me, I'm not like everyone else. I fit in a different category known as "The Odders". The Odders is a category for those with an extra ability but it's outside of their nation's elemental category. We're not ashamed of being called an Odder, but we get bullied and harassed by our own people because we're different. Some would say that it's a sign of a bad omen so we're feared and discriminated against across all five nations because of this rumor. Some of us decided to leave our own homes because of the way our own people would treat us and because some of us nearly faced death. Sometimes it's not even the Odders who get harassed, sometimes the parents get harassed because they're the ones who created us. My mom for example gets harassed because she too is an Odder. Her odd ability is foresight. She can see the future, but she rarely gets harassed because her ability is useful especially when it comes to benefiting the villagers here. My dad would sometimes get harassed because an Odder is his son and he married an Odder. In the end, they don't let it get to them.

  The name's Comet. I'm a Night Wolf who resides in a small village within the nation of Lake Night and is considered as an Odder. I don't look different from the other villagers who live here in this peaceful village. I can't really consider it as peaceful due to the discrimination, other than that it's a peaceful village. Nothing much really happens in this village, it's like every day is the same. I'd wake up not wanting to go to school, go to school, get bullied for being an Odder, get chased home every now and then, greet a few villagers while walking by, get ready for bed, and repeat the whole day all over again. See, nothing special. The only thing that really motivates me to get through my day is hanging out with my friends Ethan and his sister Ivy. They're both really good friends of mine and are also considered as Odders. Ethan's odd ability is cloning himself and Ivy's odd ability is to create forcefield, but only for a limited time. The three of us would always have each other's backs, we're basically like a family within two different families. What's funny is that I would consider Ethan as my twin brother because we both look alike, but one small difference in our appearance. Our primary fur color is black as well as our claws and paw pads and our secondary fur color is a mid-grey as well as the inside ears. We don't have a hairstyle like other villagers. The only difference is our eye color. Mine is blue and his is green. Some of the villagers would confuse the two of us. Even his own sister would us every now and then. They're both the highlights of my day and I honestly wouldn't mind starting the day over as long as I'm with the two of them.
